"Philippe Jouan has vines in excess of eighty-five years of age in Clos Sorbés, so these are truly vieilles vignes! His 2022 version is an exceptional young wine, offering up a deep, pure and simply beautiful bouquet of red plums, red and black cherries, raw cocoa, spit-roasted pigeon, distant bonfire, hints of fresh thyme and mustard seed, a gorgeous base of complex soil tones and a discreet framing of new oak. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied, precise and supremely elegant, with a great core of fruit, stunning soil signature and grip, fine-grained tannins, seamless balance and a very, very long, nascently complex and utterly refined finish. The backend lift here is amazing! This is a flat out great wine in the making. (Drink between 2038-2090) "
