"An iron fist in a velvet glove." This is how the Barbanera wine house describes this powerful Nero di Troia, which feels wonderfully supple thanks to silky-smooth tannins. Everything in this wine exudes goodness and strength. It starts with the intense deep red colour with purple reflections and continues in the remarkably sultry nose with violets, ripe black blackberries and berries, herbs, a hint of balsamic vinegar and a hint of tobacco. Stiff and yet supple in the mouth with complex, velvety tannins. A tough wood matured Italian who also shows his soft character in the finish. Delicious!

The Barbanera family has been making wine in the region since the 1930s. In 2008, the company expanded its original Tuscan vineyards to create the Vecciano Estate on the slopes of Monte Cetona. These vineyards cover approximately 9 hectares (22 acres) of land, and are situated within the confines of the Chianti DOCG wine region.
The southwest-facing slopes at the estate are composed mainly of calcareous clay and are planted to a combination of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. It is from these grape varieties that the estate creates its flagship Toscana IGT wine, Vecciano.
