Tasting Notes

"More width and some floral accents here, but a depth of mineral-inflected aroma too. Sleek but concentrated, good texture, slowly augmenting with very fine tannin. Sucrosity as the flavour leaches and melts over the palate. Lovely weight of fine finishing flavour too."

The Producer

David Butterfield

David Butterfield is one of the most engaging and gregarious winemakers in the entire Cote d’Or. We first met him after an evening tasting in Toronto in 2018 and tasting through his wines, a true sense of style came through, and one that we really loved. David's father started Butterfield Robinson bike tours. Their primary focus was bike tours throughout Beaune and have subsequently grown to cover most of the globe. After working for the family business and travelling to different parts of the world as a guide, he decided he wanted to chart his own path. It was a great experience but he wanted to try his hand at winemaking in Beaune.

Under the watchful eye of Jacques Lardière, the iconic retired winemaker of Louis Jadot, David runs a micro négociant crafting wines from all over Burgundy, with fruit from long term rental agreements with farmers he grew up meeting while guiding bike tours down the Route de Grand Crus.
