A family winery with a deep winemaking tradition dating back to 1790, when the initial vineyards were established in the Penedès, just 30 km from the Mediterranean coast and Barcelona. The primary goal is to nurture the vineyards to craft expressive organic wines and Spanish sparkling wines (cava) that capture the essence of the land, which has been dedicated to vine cultivation for centuries.
The commitment to nature has been a longstanding driving force, leading to the organic certification in 2002 and biodynamic practices since 2012. Diverse cultivation and fertilization methods contribute to the estates' rich biodiversity. The winery maintains its own flock of sheep for soil fertilization and sustenance, and bee hives are carefully tended to support pollination, strengthening the Mediterranean ecosystem.
For over two decades, the winemaking reins were held by the wives of Joan and Josep Cusiné, the third generation of the family. Maria Elena and Marta, oenology graduates from the University of Tarragona, joined the winery around 2000, bringing a paradigm shift. Their innovative approach, blending tradition with experimentation in grape varieties and winemaking techniques, yielded characterful and expressive organic, biodynamic wines, and sparkling wines capable of evoking emotions.
Presently, Marta Casas, in collaboration with her husband Josep and brother-in-law Joan, oversees the winemaking department, carrying forward the legacy of crafting distinctive and emotional wines.
