Tasting Notes

The limited edition Pietrame Montepulciano comes from the powerful soil of Abruzzo and shows an impressive fullness, fine structure and good balance. The intense fruit of the wine shows a complex aroma of black currant, cranberry and cherry, complemented by a nice spiciness, very good acidity and freshness. The renowned winery Cantina Tollo presents a wine with great character!

The Producer

Cantina Tollo

The wines from Abruzzo became famous in the 16th century, thanks to Princess Margaret of Austria. The Princess and her husband, Prince Farnese began producing high-quality wines enjoyed at feasts all over Europe. Here you’ll find some of the most dazzling, delightfully undervalued Italian wines.

Nestled between the snow-capped Maiella limestone massif and the Adriatic Sea, are the lush, green rolling vineyard hills of Cantina Tollo which was founded in 1960. The terrain is hilly with an average altitude of 230 metres above sea level, with mostly calcareous clay soil. Protected by the mountain and refreshed by the sea, perfect for growing grapes and making great wines.
