GIFFT Wines represents a collaboration between Kathie Lee Gifford and Scheid Family Wines. These wines are exclusively produced from grapes grown on Scheid's own vineyards in Monterey County, California.
Scheid Family Wines, established in 1972, is a family-owned business with ten estate vineyards spanning a 70-mile stretch of the Salinas Valley. Kathie Lee Gifford, renowned as the co-host of the fourth hour of NBC's ‘Today’ and a passionate wine enthusiast, joined forces with the Scheid family after being introduced through a common connection. Their decision to partner and create GIFFT wines was the result of a strong connection. Kathie Lee's vision was clear: to offer top-tier wines at an accessible price point, a vision perfectly aligned with the Monterey region's potential and Scheid's expertise.
The GIFFT brand made its debut with a 2012 Chardonnay, a grape variety closely associated with the Monterey appellation, and a 2011 Red Blend that combines various red grape varieties from Scheid's vineyards in southern Monterey County. The name ‘GIFFT’ is a fusion of Kathie Lee Gifford's last name and her deep belief that friendship, love, and laughter are precious gifts to be treasured. The packaging is designed in a classic style and showcases Kathie Lee's favourite place to savour wine with friends – her garden gazebo at her home. It features a convenient screw cap closure for the benefit of consumers.
