Tasting Notes

Sauvignon Blanc, Malvasia Bianco and Trebbiano Toscano from an old vineyard planted on a former property of the farm called Prunecchio. Soft pressing and slow spontaneous fermentation on natural yeasts, in steel tanks and at controlled temperature. A very aromatic wine with notes of quince, citrus and white flowers. On the plate the wine is textured yet fresh with the notes of quince following through to a long finish.

The Producer

Fattoria di Sammontana

Fattoria di Sammontana boasts a rich historical background, tracing its roots back to the era of the Medici family. However, in the mid-nineteenth century, it changed hands when it was acquired by Michele Dzieduszycki, a Polish nobleman. His family has faithfully continued the legacy of cultivating grapes and producing olive oil. Presently, the Fattoria is led by Daniele and Andrea Dzieduszycki, alongside Dario Geri.

All the grapes used in their wine production are grown on the estate, with vineyards scattered across the entire farm. The soil composition is largely consistent throughout the various sections, primarily composed of limestone with an alluvial influence. The terrain is stony and gravelly, making it a perfect environment for vineyards and olive trees to thrive. Notably, the farming practices have been organic since the first generation back in the 1860s, although official certification was achieved in 2012. Furthermore, the entire 16-hectare estate has been cultivated using biodynamic methods since 2012.
