The Borgeot Puligny-Montrachet is of course a 100% chardonnay coming from the Premier Cru vineyard Champs Gain. After manual picking from the organically counted vineyard, the wine stays for 11-13 months in 1-5 year old French oak barrels and 25% in new French oak barriques. The Borgeot Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Champs Gains comes from the 'golden triangle' of Puligny, Chassagne and Meursault and then this Puligny 1er Cru 'Champs-Gains' from Borgeot is a paradigm. In this great wine, this is perhaps the one of all Burgundy whites that shows the best in terms of minerality and freshness. Pure, floral, ripe and refined, but beneath this blanket is a powerful structure that starts discreetly but rises powerfully, carrying the whole package through the center of the mouth to an impressively long finish.
