Dark and intense with aromas of ripe red fruits and dried cherries. The palate introduces flavours of black plums and dark chocolate, with silky smooth tannins and subtle sweet spices. Earthy and complex on the finish.
"The textbook and classical 2014 Montecastro has contained ripeness and nicely integrated oak, with great balance combining power and elegance."

This is the ‘must-try’ wine zone in our industry, cranking out wines with big payoffs—if you do your homework right. The best wines have that perfect mix of New World fruit with Old World structure. This is a region with many established houses, wines of this pedigree are rare at this price point.
Founded two decades ago by long-time friends Julio Iglesias and Pedro J. Ramírez, Bodegas Montecastro is now run by the winemaking team at Hacienda Monasterio, under the guidance of the legendary Peter Sisseck (of Pingus fame).
It's clear Peter has put his mark on this wine. The combination of structure and finesse is typical in all his wines from Pingus to Monasterio to Montecastro, but Montecastro manages to stay out of the triple digit price tags. Check it out!
It's important to remember that taste is subjective, and personal preferences play a significant role.
