Tasting Notes

A more deeply coloured rosé, just off-dry with flavours of plum skin and red raspberry. A touch of bitterness, cherry pit and ripe strawberry along with a balanced degree of freshness. There is some satisfying weight to this blend but the alcohol is well in check. Cheerful and offering good complexity for the price.

The Producer

Château Des Charmes

The impressive entrance to Château des Charmes Winery (pictured below) with the formal gardens and the classic façade are reminiscent of an ancient French estate. Hardly surprising, as Château des Charmes has a long history of winemaking, dating back seven generations to Alsace.

Founded by industry visionary Paul Bosc, this family estate winery is set among 35-hectares of pristine vines in the St. David’s Bench. By the early 1970s, Paul was crafting Ontario wines that surprised many in the wine world. In 1978, he established Château des Charmes as a 60-acre estate winery and planted the first commercial Canadian vineyard growing only vitis vinifera grapes….this is truly Canadian wine history in the making.
