Made by Antonio Maçanita, this is a micro-production wine from the tiny island of Pico in the Azores. It is grown in volcanic basalt at sea level, less than 50m from the Atlantic. This terroir and the varietal imbue this wine with incredible minerality and purity, as well as unmistakable salinity.
"Here's a lovely, dry, very pretty rose with subtle, complex aromas of strawberry/redcurrant and vague minerality. Flavours become more amplified on the palate where great acidity and some salty tang kick in. It is medium weight, dry, very even and firm, with stony/earthiness on the finish. The length is excellent."

In the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, there is an island nicknamed ‘The Island of Wine.’ Seriously. It is named Pico, after a beautiful and sometimes snow capped volcanic peak that dominates the landscape. This peak is the tallest point on a group of nine lush green islands known as the Azores. Winemaking came to the Azores soon after settlement began in the mid-15th century. This is a micro-production wine from the tiny island of Pico in the Azores.
