"Aromatics suggest leafy white blossom and preserved lemons with just a touch of apricot. Palate is full, broad and ripe with mouth filling texture. Fine acidity and minerality show polish and elegance. Graceful and restrained."

Situated in the northern part of the Sancerre region, Domaine de la Villaudiere is run by Jean Marie Reverdy and his wife Catherine Ferry, who are proud of their Sancerrois roots. The estate lies on the westernmost slope of the valley and has a wonderful view of the hill-top town of Sancerre. The total area under vine is about 15 hectares at 200 metres elevation.
The vineyards are spread throughout a number of villages in the region to minimize the risk that frost or hail might decimate the entire crop. All of them, however, generally have south, southeast or eastern exposure and vines, trained using single Guyot method at 6,000 plants per hectare, average about 20 years of age. The vineyards are planted on clay-limestone soil, topped with gravel and flinty pebbles, which give Jean-Marie’s wines a distinctive elegance.
Spread over 28 plots, the vineyards are over thirty years old on average. The vineyards mainly enjoy a south-southeast exposure where maturation is gradual and even. The winery has practised sustainable viticulture for over twenty years, and each year they strive to adapt growing techniques.
