Tasting Notes

"Gini’s Soave Classico is a fantastic value, combining the concentration given by old vines (averaging 70 years of age) with a buoyant, floral freshness from the moderate 2018 growing season. A blend of fruit from five crus, each vinified separately in stainless-steel vats, the wine offers flavors of pear, yellow apple and green almond propelled by mouthwatering acidity that invites another sip, and then another glass."

"Vivid straw-yellow. Delicious aromas of herbs, lime, almond kernel and jasmine. Bright, dense and juicy, with a glyceral but vibrant mouthfeel and very pure flavors of green apple, pear and white peach. Finishes long and mineral. This is a knockout entry-level Soave that boasts sneaky concentration and extreme purity of fruit. Absolutely lovely and one of the better Soaves at this price point that I have memory of in quite some time."

The Producer

Gini

The Gini family has roots in the Soave Classico region dating from the seventh century, and owns 25 hectares of vineyards situated on the very best hillside position of the appellation. Extremely low yields, low-interference viticulture, and devoted attention to expressing the unique character of each cru results in wines that are not only among the greatest Soaves but also among the great white wines of Italy. Olinto Gini and sons Sandro and Claudio have now finally completed their beautiful new cellar, which extends deep into the rocky and tufaceous hillside of Monteforte d’Alpone, thus providing optimal natural temperature and humidity control.
