The Celler Masroig winery is the largest winery in Montsant founded in the beginning of the 20th century, and it is a symbol of cooperation in this region. The wines by Celler Masroig are a pure expression of the tradition of winemaking in Montsant.
The wines by Masroig are certified under the Denomination of Origin Montsant which is a region within Priorat. With over 500 hectares of their own grapevines the Celler Masroig winery is the biggest winery of Montsant.
The winery has a long history of working as a cooperative in Montsant and therefore you can look back at different types of wine that this winery produced in the past. In her first years, the Celler Masroig winery crafted wines with high levels of alcohol and intensive pigmentations. These wines were specifically crafted for either the Spanish market or for international distribution. This winery also has a history of crafting wine bases to round off other wines. Over time, the Celler Masroig winery became one of the leading of Spanish exporting of red wines to France with their “Violets” label.
Today, the winery is looking towards the future to improve and transform the wines being produced in the Montsant D. O. of Spain. This winery has a brand mark of assured quality and all of their wines have a unique expression and character.
All of the wines are crafted following ancient traditions that have been adapted to incorporate new technologies which are essential in the modern high end World of Wine.
