Erik Banti is known as the pioneer of Morellino de Scansano. He has been producing wines in the Maremma Toscana region in the south-west of Tuscany for decades. With a love and passion for native Italian and classic French grapes he has created his Spineto, a blend of Sangiovese, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2 French varieties are aged for 6 months in barriques, while the Sangiovese matures exclusively in steel. The result is a round, smooth red with strong territorial characteristics with the charm and finesse of international blends.
"On the nose, tangy berries provide some pop above an earthy, umami, slightly spicy foundation of grilled meat, pepper and coffee. On the palate, a strong chocolate note contrasts with more meat, while toothy tannins and a wave of acid create an overall feel that mischievously walks the line between slick and mouth-clearing."
