"Full ruby-red. Clean, fresh red cherry and dark plum aromas and flavors are complicated by brown spices and sweet pipe tobacco. Dense and multilayered, with sweet dark fruit and peppery nuances. Almost 15 percent alcohol, but it hides its alcoholic power well. Renonno is a vineyard located in Montemarano that was donated to Salvatore by his grandparents (nonno is Italian for “grandfather”), hence the wine’s name. This southeast-exposed vineyard is located at 500 to 550 meters above sea level and is planted with vines of different ages (5 to 75 years old); the soil is mainly loose clay and less calcareous than that of the Vigna Cinque Querce. The wine ages about 30 months in barriques and large oak barrels."
