It is a fabulously ripe, rich and seductive wine endowed with beautifully articulated dark plums, ash, leather, licorice, all of which meld together in an explosive, utterly thrilling display of class and elegance. Clean, mineral notes frame the eternal finish. Today the 2008 is impossibly young and the wine will require considerable patience, but its class, pedigree and potential are all first-rate. Simply put, the 2008 is a monumental Terra di Lavoro. Anticipated maturity: 2018-2038."

Galardi, a family-owned estate, stands out in a league of its own. It was founded in 1991, and they specialize in crafting a single wine of almost unparalleled perfection. Situated in an idyllic location characterized by volcanic, sloping soils in the northwestern part of Italy's Campania region, Galardi benefits from the influence of the Mediterranean Ocean's breezes and the exceptional soil composition, which makes the cultivation of native grape varieties like Aglianico and Piedirosso almost second nature. While these unique soils impart distinctive flavours to the wine, they also result in incredibly low yields. As a result, only a few thousand bottles of Galardi's flagship wine, Terra di Lavoro, are produced each year, causing both its quality and price to soar.
