"The 2015 Volnay 1er Cru Champans has an expressive bouquet for this habitually taciturn domaine (at least in its youth). This is bestowed with a comparatively opulent bouquet with rounded red cherry and wild strawberry scents, almost Santenots-like in style. The palate is supple and rounded on the entry, belying the structure that lies underneath. Yet there is fine grip on the finish and it lingers long and tenderly in the mouth. This has great potential - one of Jean-Pierre Charlot's best wines this vintage."
93-95 Points - Wine Advocate, December 2016
"Powerful and brooding, with a deep-pitched bouquet of black raspberry, cassis, rich soil, graphite and subtle espresso notes. The complex, deep and concentrated palate shows lovely dimension and authority, framed by fine, rich tannins."

Joseph Voillot, a venerable fifth-generation estate, possesses vineyards in the premier locations of both Volnay and Pommard. Currently, the managing director is Joseph Voillot's son-in-law, Jean Pierre Charlot, who collaborated closely with Joseph from 1980 until Joseph's retirement in 1995.
For many years, Jean Pierre served as a professor at the Lycée Viticole in Beaune, where he instructed several of Burgundy's up-and-coming talents. He is a meticulous individual, particularly drawn to navigating the challenging years when vineyard work, harvest sorting, and precise cellar practices yield significant results. Upon tasting the range of wines from the estate, it becomes immediately apparent that these are authentic expressions of terroir, a testament to the careful use of new oak. Each wine, at every tier, faithfully reflects its place of origin. To truly understand the essence of Volnay and Pommard, one need look no further than Domaine Joseph Voillot.
It's important to remember that taste is subjective, and personal preferences play a significant role.
