    Colinas do Douro

    Douro (Portugal), Portugal (Portugal)

    12 x 750 ml

Breads, Cured Meat, Hard Cheese, Red Meat, Roasted Vegetables

"Produced from old vines, this blend of Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca and Tinta Roriz is rich and dense. It has firm tannins at this young stage although it is obviously going to become a generous rich wine as it develops. It has a fine future of complex structure and fruit."

  2. New Legado del Moncayo Garnacha Blanca by Isaac Fernandez Selección 2017 Legado del Moncayo Garnacha Blanca by Isaac Fernandez Selección 2017

    $179.40

    Isaac Fernandez Selección

Campo de Borja (Spain), Spain (Spain)

    12 x 750 ml

Breads, Cured Meat, Ham, Roasted Vegetables, Soft Cheese, White Meat

"I’m much more familiar with Garnacha Blanca from Catalonia than Aragon, but this is a very convincing rendition of the variety. Medium-bodied, with open fruit flavors recalling white melon, tangerine and autumn pear, this is quite juicy and flavorful when first sipped, but then shows a more taut, citrus character in the finish. This sensory transition from a broad fore-palate to a linear aftertaste will help this work well with a very wide variety of foods, including anything from a roasted chicken to shellfish dishes such as shrimp or mussels. Delicious, and a very attractive bargain."

"Honeysuckle and oaky aromas provide segue to a medium-full bodied, fully textured mouthful of honey-drizzled lemon and lime intertwined with ripe apricot, ginger snap and notes of buttered toast; this was aged eight months in French oak barrels. This dishes up purity of fruit, deft balance, depth, complexity elegance and charm. Pour with pan-seared pork chops and apple sauce or chicken pot pie."

    Fiuza

    Portugal (Portugal), Tejo (Portugal)

    12 x 750 ml

Breads, Hard Cheese, Red Meat, Vegetables

"Structured and still young, this rich wine is full of dusty tannins as well as dark black fruits. Blending Touriga Nacional and Cabernet Sauvignon has given a wine with excellent aging potential. Firm and concentrated now, it needs to age until 2020."

"This tart and delicate wine packs a lot of flavor in its dry frame. Grapefruit and nectarine are the dominant fruit flavors. It’s sappy and long, with a faint hint of petrol."

    12 x 750 ml

Breads, Cured Meat, Ham, Rich Fish, Soft Cheese, White Meat

"Bright straw-yellow. Sharply focused aromas of Meyer lemon, quince and candied ginger, along with subtle floral and mineral notes. Densely packed but light on its feet, offering refreshingly bitter citrus pith, pear skin flavors and a hint of spicy white pepper. Racy, stony and sharply focused on the finish, which lingers with repeating mineral and floral character."

"This is a very attractive gewürztraminer, listed as off-dry but really quite dry to my palate. It displays very good weight and texture, with good structure and balance. Winemaker Angelo Pavan is forthright about his approach to this variety: “The acidity drops quickly in gewürztraminer, and a lot of people pick early to get the acidity. But I prefer to pick it later, to make sure the fruit is ripe. Gewürztraminer isn’t about acidity; you want this oily texture. If you want acidity, drink riesling.” This example clearly embodies his approach. It shows the classic flavour profile, some viscosity in the texture, and the characteristic slight bitterness toward the back palate. And the acidity? This is not a fat, low-acid gewürztraminer, any more than it’s the blowsy style. The acidity is here in ample degree, well balanced with the fruit, and adding freshness to the other qualities of this well-made wine." 4 1/2 out of 5 stars - Rod Phillips, Winepointer, Nov 2014 (2012 vintage) 90 Points - Globe and Mail - Beppi Crosariol > Learn More
