  1. New Chardonnay by Bogle Vineyards 2017 Chardonnay by Bogle Vineyards 2017

    $299.40

    Bogle Vineyards

    California (USA)

    12 x 750 ml

Breads, Cured Meat, Rich Fish, Soft Cheese, White Meat

Clarksburg Chardonnay’s signature apple and pear notes flourish in the incredible aromas and first sips of this wine. The rich, round entry is full of fruit, including touches of tropical pineapple and guava. The elegant and creamy mouthfeel wraps around the fruit and leads to spicy notes of nutmeg and toasty vanilla, left behind by over 8 months of aging in American oak.   The finish lingers like the last bite of that buttery crème brule.

    Very Dark Red

    California (USA), Central Coast (USA)

    6 x 750 ml

Breads, Cured Meat, Hard Cheese, Red Meat, Roasted Vegetables

Very Dark Red. The name frankly speaks for itself. Petit Verdot is a grape of dark color, stout tannins and concentrated flavors. The small berries of Petite Sirah means a more intense maceration of skin-to-juice ratio and some of the longest tannins of any vinifera. Together they create a dark, concentrated wine that can be enjoyed now but will age well for a decade or more. VDR is full-bodied yet supple, with deep, ripe fruit flavors of black currant and black raspberry perfumed by delicate notes of crushed violet. A firm, chalky tannin structure belies the velvety, luscious mouthfeel. Dense flavors integrate beautifully for a long, layered finish.

"They’ve reduced the oak aging over the years.  It shows.  Graceful, elegant, firm--not aggressive--tannins.  Alluring!"

"Aromas of rose petals and ripe strawberries follow through to a full body. Layered and chewy with ripe tannins and a flavorful and intense finish. Serious and structured."

    Donatella Cinelli Colombini

    Italy (Italy), Tuscany (Italy)

    6 x 750 ml

Breads, Cured Meat, Hard Cheese, Red Meat, Roasted Vegetables

"I love the way this wine has absorbed and reflects the sunny and warm personality of its maker, the brilliant Donatella Cinelli Colombini. The 2013 Brunello di Montalcino Prime Donne has her spirit and her vision, and I recognize that as I taste through these samples. Her distinctive winemaking mark is achieved with botte and tonneaux aging, and her style is definitely fuller and more generous than most. It's a modern Brunello, if you care to categorize wines in this way. Only 6,660 bottles were produced. The vineyards are exposed to wider horizons that make for more light hours each day (from dawn to sunset) of the growing cycle. I'm on team Donatella."

95 points - Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, Feb 2018

"Fragrant and elegant, this offers lovely scents of pressed blue flower and an earthy whiff of new leather. The savory refined palate delivers ripe red cherry, cranberry, star anise, orange zest and crushed herb alongside polished, fine-grained tannins. It's nicely balanced, with bright acidity."

  6. New Clos Figueres Priorat by Clos Figueras 2015

    $774.00

    Clos Figueras

    Priorat (Spain), Spain (Spain)

    6 x 750 ml

Breads, Cured Meat, Ham, Hard Cheese, Red Meat, Roasted Vegetables

"Dark black and red in colour, this Gratallops-grown blend of older vine Garnatxa and Carinyena, with 10% of Syrah and 5% of Cabernet Sauvignon, is fermented in mainly older 500 litre barrels before being aged in new and one year old barriques and 300 litre casks. The scents are sweetly enticing for the time being and, tasting this in the context of a vertical, it will turn creamy after a few years, and truffley with further maturation time. The easy, swinging balance of the damson-like Gratallops fruit is evident, but so too is the concentration and innate drama of the wine, the vines producing just half a kilo of grapes each. Having begun richly, you realise by the finish that the wine is a poised mid-weight."

    Clos Mogador

    Priorat (Spain), Spain (Spain)

    6 x 750 ml

Breads, Cured Meat, Ham, Hard Cheese, Red Meat, Roasted Vegetables

"This time there were two vintages of the top-of-the-range red to taste, as the 2014 is almost finished and the 2015 Clos Mogador will be released soon. In this warmer vintage, there is a little more Cariñena in the blend, with the final breakdown something like 45% Garnacha, 29% Cariñena, 16% Syrah and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. This had the same vinification and aging as the 2014: fermentation with indigenous yeasts and a 35- to 45-day maceration, followed by an élevage in 300-liter barrels and 2,000-liter foudres that lasted 18 months. 2015 is a rounder and easier year than 2014, and it feels a little riper, supple but with good freshness. It's clean and precise with nicely integrated oak. This was an easy vintage for the winery, and the wines are easy to understand and more approachable early on."

    Uccelliera

    Italy (Italy), Tuscany (Italy)

    6 x 750 ml

Breads, Cured Meat, Ham, Hard Cheese, Red Meat, Roasted Vegetables

"The 2012 Brunello Riserva from Uccelliera is a total beauty, and as compelling as any wine I have ever tasted from Andrea Cortonesi. This instantly opens to simply striking aromatics of dark cherries and red plums along with white truffle, florals, exotic spices, leather and hints of cured meat all soaring from the glass. On the palate this is medium to full-bodied and beautifully polished with a gorgeous seamless, velvety mouthfeel. It is impeccably balanced, with wonderful finesse and precision through the long, graceful finish. This Brunello is nothing short of sensational, and although already drinking extremely well, it should continue to provide pleasure for many years to come."

    Chateau Pichon Baron

    Bordeaux (France), France (France)

    6 x 750 ml

Breads, Cured Meat, Hard Cheese, Red Meat

"Baron was trapped in its oak en primeur, seeming flashy, luscious and soft. Now bottled and shipped, it has the unremitting tannic power of the vintage, balanced by unrelenting purity of fruit that somehow manages to anesthetize the monstrous tannin, to soften the extremely dry, mineral-bound finish into a caress. The wine may be bombastic, but it's also succulent and as sweet as a ripe black raspberry. It's easy to imagine this wine 50 years from now, in impeccable condition."

    Chateau Pape Clement

    Bordeaux (France), France (France)

    6 x 750 ml

Breads, Cured Meat, Hard Cheese, Red Meat, Roasted Vegetables

"Although the 2009 Pape Clement may not be as sublime as the 2005 or 2000, but it is very close to those two efforts, and it will be fascinating to compare them (as well as the 2008 and 2010) over the following three decades. A blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc with a modest 13.5% alcohol, the 2009 reveals considerable structure and tannin along with tell-tale notes of burning embers, scorched earth, graphite, blueberries, blackberries and toasty vanillin, and a full-bodied mouthfeel. This rich, full offering is surprisingly backward. This cuvee should drink well in 5-6 years as one rarely has to wait a decade or more to enjoy Pape Clement. It should age for three decades or more. This 13th century vineyard situated in the suburbs of Pessac is owned by one of Bordeaux's most interesting visionaries, Bernard Magrez. He has done a remarkable job in turning around this once moribund property that made a bevy of undrinkable wines into one of the superstars of Bordeaux."
