"The 2016 4 Kilos is Callet from old vines and is from a fresher year that produced a very elegant and fine wine. They didn't change anything in the vinification or aging, because they changed in 2013, and the wine just follows that path. This has to be one of the finest vintages for Callet; the wine is super elegant, subtle and nuanced, with the Mediterranean character and no trace of oak. Callet is a delicate grape and needs a gentle aging, and so they use 600-liter barrels and 2,500-liter oval vats, which respects the floral quality of the grape. The palate is medium-bodied and has fine tannins with grip, moderate acidity and moderate alcohol, all in great harmony and balance. This is simply superb. 15,000 bottles were filled in April 2018."

  2. New Brunello di Montalcino DOCG by Uccelliera 2015

    $714.00

    Uccelliera

    Italy (Italy), Tuscany (Italy)

    6 x 750 ml

Cured Meat, Hard Cheese, Pasta, Red Meat

"Andrea Cortonesi of Uccelliera shows real talent when it comes to highlighting vintage variation in his wines. His 2015 Brunello di Montalcino captures the exuberance and the ebullience of this sunny and warm growing season. However, the wine remains orderly, precise and very elegant nonetheless, with a pretty succession of aromas that play cautiously forward, building in intensity along the way. Dried currant and cherry cede to moist earth, rose petal and balsam herb. The wine's medium-weight body is supported by fresh acidity and well-managed tannins (with 36 months of oak aging). All of these moving pieces work in harmony."

    Remirez de Ganuza

    Rioja (Spain), Spain (Spain)

    3 x 750 ml

Cured Meat, Hard Cheese, Red Meat

There are more Mediterranean aromas in the 2011 Reserva, and the fruit feels riper and the wine more developed, as you can expect from a very warm year like 2011. It's full-bodied, and there are some dusty tannins that make it all the way to the finish. This is a ripe and powerful vintage that needs powerful food.

    Chateau Lassegue

    Bordeaux (France), France (France)

Cured Meat, Hard Cheese, Red Meat

"From American Jess Jackson’s vineyard in St.-Emilion (run by the incomparable Pierre Seillan), the 2010 Lassegue possesses an opaque purple color as well as a dense, muscular, masculine style displaying lots of black cherry and black currant fruit intermixed with hints of new oak and graphite. Full-bodied but backward, this cuvee (like most of Seillan’s wines) is built for the long haul. It requires 5-7 years of patience and should last for 20+ years."

    Domaine Les Pallières

    France (France), Southern Rhône (France)

    1 x 1500 ml

Breads, Hard Cheese, Red Meat, Vegetables

"Very complete and complex wine that has intensity and elegance. Raspberry and rose-like perfume, this has a long, red-fruit core with dark spices wrapped deep into the heart of the palate. Detailed texture, the noble, long tannins cloaked in wild, red plums and berries. Terrific freshness here. Wow. Drink or hold."

  7. New Brunello di Montalcino DOCG Ciliegio OWC by La Magia 2015

    $1,074.00

    Fattoria La Magia

    Italy (Italy), Tuscany (Italy)

    6 x 750 ml

Cured Meat, Hard Cheese, Pasta, Red Meat

    Only 1125 bottles produced.

"The 2015 La Magia ‘Ciliegio’ Brunello di Montalcino opens to an austere and complex sensory profile, as stunning aromatics lift from the glass with notes of red hibiscus flowers, jasmine flowers, agapanthus and blue plums. It is enriched with thyme and marjoram which give this wine a certain Mediterranean character. On the palate this is full-bodied, and beautifully balanced, structured with sweet tannins which frame the impeccable fruit quality on the finish. This is sensational now, but should become even more impressive as it evolves over the next few years."
