    Badia di Morrona

    12 x 750 ml

Breads, Cured Meat, Hard Cheese, Red Meat, Roasted Vegetables

Chianti is undoubtedly the most famous Italian wine in the world. The Gaslini Alberti have always contributed to the quality of this appellation by producing “l Sodi del Paretaio”, a typical expression of Chianti: fragrant and elegant, but of beautiful richness and intensity.  A blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah, this wine is aged for 10 months in stainless steel and/or concrete.  The nose is fresh with floral and fruity aromas.  On the palate the wine is pleasurable and versitile with soft, ripe tannins.  Beautifully balanced.

"A caressing, refined red with medium body, medium tannins and attractive berry, chocolate and walnut character. Drink or hold."

    90 Points - James Suckling, July 2020

"This is a lively, almost juicy but still elegant young Tuscan blend with quite lifted floral, blackcurrant, raspberry fruit inset with fine herbs. It is medium weight with lively Tuscan acidity, some alcohol warmth and youthful, green but not severe tannin. The length is very good to excellent."

"Pretty, fresh nose, fleshy palate with fine acids and well managed tannins. Length and deptyh are good. Solid, pleasant, pleasurable Chianti, clean, with no evident wood influence. I like the thick tannic grain from the clays, and the fine, fresh, slightly darker fruit than the mean for Radda. Drink 2020-2025."

  4. New Brunello di Montalcino DOCG by La Colombina 2016

    $449.94

    La Colombina

    Italy (Italy), Tuscany (Italy)

    6 x 750 ml

Cured Meat, Hard Cheese, Red Meat, Veal roasted

"The 2016 Brunello di Montalcino is dark, rich and seductive from the first tilt of the glass. Here I find a mix of black cherry and crushed plums complemented by notes of cinnamon, clove and violet florals. This is silky yet savory, with a dense core of tart blackberry neatly wrapped in a web of salty minerals and fine tannins. In spite of its structure and weight, the 2016 from La Colombina maintains freshness and energy throughout, sometimes seeming more like food than wine through a sense of umami that starts on the palate and lingers throughout the long finish."

93 points - Eric Guido, Vinous Media, November 2020

"La Colombina's 2016 Brunello di Montalcino opens to a dark and sultry appearance, followed by aromas of blackberry, plum and dark cherry. Those dark fruit flavors are not heavy, and instead they show the lightness and lifted aromatic intensity that comes so uniquely to the Sangiovese grape, especially in a classic vintage such as this. Spice, tar and campfire ash come up on the finish. This is a well-priced 11,000-bottle release for medium-term drinking."

"They’ve reduced the oak aging over the years.  It shows.  Graceful, elegant, firm--not aggressive--tannins.  Alluring!"

95 points - Michael Apstein, Wine Review Online, Feb 2018

"Aromas of rose petals and ripe strawberries follow through to a full body. Layered and chewy with ripe tannins and a flavorful and intense finish. Serious and structured."

"The initial slight reduction gives character and releases fragrant scents reminiscent of red flowers, red plums and raspberries. Juicy and well balanced in the center of the palate with ripe and well-spread tannins and a finish with a medium-long persistence. How beautiful. Drink now or hold."

    95 points - WinesCritic, Feb 2020

"The ripe-cherry, flower and hot-stone aromas are very attractive. Full body. Dense and layered with a beautiful center palate and intensity. Cedar and light dried-flower character shows through as well."

"Underbrush and baked plum aromas mingle with whiffs of new leather and camphor. It's medium in weight and well structured, delivering dried black cherry, licorice and tobacco set against taut, fine-grained tannins."

"The 2015 Brunello di Montalcino Prime Donne opens with a stunning display of floral-laced black cherry, becoming dark and deeper in the glass, as notes of brown spice, balsamics, leather and air-dried meats develop. On the palate, cool-toned textures race like liquid silk, ushing in fleshy red fruits, zesty minerals and spice, all framed by balanced acids and fine tannin. The finish goes on and on, being both structured and fresh, as I can feel its young tannin pulling at the senses while allowing notes of black cherry, spice and sweet floral tones to linger on. It’s a dramatic, dark beauty of a wine that will only get better with time."

95 Points - Eric Guido, Vinous Media, April 2020

"This is a special selezione expression. The Donatella Cinelli Colombini 2015 Brunello di Montalcino Prime Donne starts off a bit closed and shy, however it soon gains speed thanks to the intensity of its berry fruit, spice and camphor ash aromas. This wine is built to withstand longer cellar aging. It is firmly compact and tight at its core, recalling a Brunello from a cooler vintage. However, much of that 2015 sunshine and dark fruit exuberance comes through nonetheless. Fruit comes from a 10-hectare site with a large component of clay in the soils. Only 6,600 bottles were made, and the wine was released in January 2020."

"Vivid medium-dark red. Hints at black and red fruits on the delicate, refined nose, complicated by nuances of violet and flint. Then smooth and suave in the mouth, with outstanding breadth to the blueberry, sour red cherry, potpourri and floral flavors. Penetrating minerality contributes to the lasting impression of precision and verve. The noble, mouth-coating tannins provide backbone and noteworthy aging potential to this extremely elegant, pure, dense wine. One of the top eight or so Brunellos of the 2013 vintage."

"Extremely perfumed and decadent with dried fruit, orange peel and meat on the nose. Full body, linear and bright with intense citrus. Long and powerful. Like a Barolo! Drink or hold. Made from organic grapes."

    95 points - James Suckling, November 2017

"Mid ruby with bright, bricky tinges. Reductive and stalky on the nose. I would decant this. Very elegant cherry fruit of great precision and with bags of coating tannins. Real class."
