"Honeysuckle and oaky aromas provide segue to a medium-full bodied, fully textured mouthful of honey-drizzled lemon and lime intertwined with ripe apricot, ginger snap and notes of buttered toast; this was aged eight months in French oak barrels. This dishes up purity of fruit, deft balance, depth, complexity elegance and charm. Pour with pan-seared pork chops and apple sauce or chicken pot pie."

    Fiuza

"This is a serious, structured wine with its firm tannins still in place. The rich, black plum fruits and layers of acidity still need a little time to develop and lessen the dryness of this wine. The aftertaste reveals a more juicy side."

Brilliant medium purple. Fresh ripe red & black fruit; cherry, strawberry, & wild raspberry. Intense spice / sous bois, smoke. Granite minerality. Light-bodied, vibrant acid, grippy though delicate tannins; with surprisingly powerful fruit & spice; punching above its weight in flavour. Very balanced & low alcohol.

"Here's a nicely perfumed, properly pine and herb-tinged, varietally-accurate example of cabernet franc, complete with graphite and dark berry fruit flavours. I love the succulence and the juiciness, the firm palate, well-balanced, the fine length, and the elegance and depth. Solid, quality winemaking."

"The 2018 Morgon Côte du Py derives from both higher-altitude and lower-lying parcels, and it is a great success this year, offering up a lovely bouquet of dark fruits, cherries, smoked meat and licorice. On the palate, it's full-bodied, ample and layered, with a fleshy and concentrated core, fine girdling tannins and succulent acids, concluding with a long and sapid finish."

    Bodega Akutain

    Rioja (Spain), Spain (Spain)

    6 x 750 ml

Breads, Hard Cheese, Pasta, Red Meat, Vegetables

"The 2004 Rioja Gran Reserva from Bodegas Akutain is a lovely the elegant side of Rioja Alta fruit, as it offers up a complex and utterly classic bouquet of plums, raspberries, cigar smoke, an impressively complex base of soil tones, cloves and toasted coconut. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, pure and vibrant, with a great core of fruit, impeccable balance, lovely complexity and a very long, bright and classy finish. Just a great bottle of old school Rioja! 2016-2035+."

    Bernabeleva

    Madrid (Spain), Spain (Spain)

    6 x 750 ml

Breads, Hard Cheese, Red Meat, Vegetables

From a single vineyard with 75+ year-old vines. Vivid red. Intensely perfumed aromas of ripe red berries, blood orange, Asian spices and smoky minerals, with a suave floral accent emerging with aeration. Silky, seamless and appealingly sweet, offering concentrated raspberry and boysenberry flavors and a refreshingly bitter jolt of blood orange. Closes on an emphatic red fruit note, with gentle tannic grip and excellent persistence. This reminds me a lot of a high-class Burgundy from a warm vintage, or maybe a Grenache-based, cool-year southern Rhône wine.
