    "I’m much more familiar with Garnacha Blanca from Catalonia than Aragon, but this is a very convincing rendition of the variety. Medium-bodied, with open fruit flavors recalling white melon, tangerine and autumn pear, this is quite juicy and flavorful when first sipped, but then shows a more taut, citrus character in the finish. This sensory transition from a broad fore-palate to a linear aftertaste will help this work well with a very wide variety of foods, including anything from a roasted chicken to shellfish dishes such as shrimp or mussels. Delicious, and a very attractive bargain."

    This wine comes from various estate vineyards all enjoying south or south-eastern exposures. 90% Sangiovese is blended with 5% Cabernet and 5% Merlot. Densely planted to 5600 plants per hectare, the vines grow in sandy limestone-rich soils. The grapes are macerated for over a week and vinified in steel or concrete vats. Deep red ruby with fresh fruit, mineral and floral aromas. Red berry fruits dominate the palate with well-integrated acidity and tannins. Beautifully balanced.

    "This is a very attractive gewürztraminer, listed as off-dry but really quite dry to my palate. It displays very good weight and texture, with good structure and balance. Winemaker Angelo Pavan is forthright about his approach to this variety: “The acidity drops quickly in gewürztraminer, and a lot of people pick early to get the acidity. But I prefer to pick it later, to make sure the fruit is ripe. Gewürztraminer isn’t about acidity; you want this oily texture. If you want acidity, drink riesling.” This example clearly embodies his approach. It shows the classic flavour profile, some viscosity in the texture, and the characteristic slight bitterness toward the back palate. And the acidity? This is not a fat, low-acid gewürztraminer, any more than it’s the blowsy style.     Produced using the Tradtional Method of sparkling wine production, and aged for at least 15 months on lees, making this a Reserva Cava. Brilliant yellow colour with green reflections. Fine, persistent bubbles forming continuous beads. On the nose, it displays citrusy and tropical fruit notes along with more complex aging aromas (toast & brioche) that enrich the range of aromas. On the palate, it is creamy, wide and long-lasting. The result is a highly versatile wine, pairable with a great variety of food.

     

    "Very elegant on the nose, there is just some brioche, almondine and grilled pineapple. The palate has a greater concentration of flavor, its lively bubbles driving roasted apple, buttered biscuit and underripe red plum. The long finish is pleasing."
