    Weingut Fred Loimer

    Austria (Austria), Kamptal (Austria)

    12 x 750 ml

Duck breast, Ham, Rich Fish, White Meat

Intense spicy aromas of ground white pepper and cardamom along with a whiff of yellow apple. Vibrant mouthfeel even with its lean body structure. On the palate are notes of greengage and dried pineapple - lovely fruitiness with graceful acidity. Good balance and tension. A discreet and elegant tarty touch on the finish.

“The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon is a terrific value and is 83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Petit Verdot, and the rest Petite Sirah. It has a Bordeaux-ish bouquet of new saddle leather, cedarwood, tobacco leaf, and smoky black fruits as well as medium body, plenty of fruit, sweet tannins, and a good finish. It’s not going to make old bones, but it has serious character, and I’d happily drink bottles over the coming 4-6 years.”

“Floral aromas of violet and cherry blossom drop into rich black-cherry and cocoa tones on the nose of this widely available bottling. The palate is juicy in black cherry and blackberry flavors, with accents of oak and cracked pepper, all framed by a chalky texture.”

"Located in a cooler part of Valtuille, El Rapolao is a vineyard that is bottled by a number of different producers, mostly from the circle of influence of Raúl Pérez. The 2015 Valtuille El Rapolao fermented with full clusters in oak vats with indigenous yeasts and matured in well-seasoned, neutral 500-liter oak barrels. As with all old vineyards, the Mencía is interplanted with other varieties, like Estaladiña, Garnacha Tintorera and Souson, which might add to the tension the wine has, something that is especially remarkable in a warm and dry year like 2015. The palate has power and very good freshness, more elegant and with less rusticity despite its earthy touch. 2015 yielded well and there are some 1,700 bottles of it."

  4. New Brunello di Montalcino DOCG by Voliero 2013

    $594.00

    Voliero

    Italy (Italy), Tuscany (Italy)

    6 x 750 ml

Breads, Hard Cheese, Pasta, Red Meat, Veal roasted, Vegetables

"The nose was dark with violet floral tones, black cherry, dusty spices, leather and hints of savory herbs. On the palate, I found silky textures balanced by zesty acids with texturally-rich cherry and strawberry, sweet spices and minerals which all combined to form a beautifully balanced expression. It finished long with saturating dark berry fruits, spice, and fine tannin, yet it was energized by lingering acidity. I’ve liked this wine in the past, but in 2013 it has reached a whole new level."

"Bright red with a pale rim. Knockout aromas and flavors of spicy red cherry, licorice, cedar and aromatic herbs. Clean, ripe and round, with saline nuances lingering nicely on the smooth but very lively finish. A classic Brunello from Voliero."

  5. $599.70

    Tenuta Fanti

    Italy (Italy), Tuscany (Italy)

    6 x 750 ml

Breads, Hard Cheese, Pasta, Red Meat, Vegetables

"Vallocchio is Fanti's single (Vigna) expression from Castelnuovo dell'Abate fruit gained off of vines up to 35 years old from what the estate refers to as their mosaic of uniquely gifted plots; Vigna Bellavista, Vigna Sassone, Vigna Casabandi and Vigna Macchiarelle Nuova. The two hectares produce only 10,000 bottles (in many but not all vintages) in what can only be translated as "the valley of the eye," or it is these highly perceptive vines that see the forest for the trees. Always a rather grand and impressive expression of Brunello with big bones, fruit and alcohol, Vallocchio is remarkable for how it smells and even more so tastes like limestone, with thanks to the presence of Galestro in sand. The focused and precise 2013 is aged mostly in large casks with just a few barriques, an elévage stylistic that will only continue to trend in the direction of older wood restraint as time goes by. Drink 2020-2031."
