    Domaine Bachelet-Monnot

    Burgundy (France), France (France)

    6 x 750 ml

    Pasta, Salad, Vegetables, White Meat

"Light, bright yellow. Aromas of white peach, noble herbs and toasty oak are lifted by a stony quality (none of these '17s show any exotic character). Fine-grained, concentrated wine with sweet flavors of stone fruits and white flowers nicely framed by harmonious acidity. This wine really benefited from the dry growing season, noted Alexandre Bachelet, who added that its pH is 3.1, about the same as that of the village Chassagne. Offers good density and grip for village wine."
88-91 points - Stephen Tanzer, Vinous Media, September 2018

"Quite a lot of floral fragrance and lovely white fruit too. Strong saline stony character on the finish – very concentrated and lengthy, with archetypical nervy acidity."

    Domaine Bachelet-Monnot

    Burgundy (France), France (France)

    6 x 750 ml

    Pasta, Salad, Vegetables, White Meat

"(made from six parcels located "next to" the premier and grand crus of Chassagne-Montrachet, according to Alexandre Bachelet, who added that about half of these vines are less than 30 years old): Distinctly floral, pure scents of pear, white peach and menthol; showing well today thanks to the earlier malolactic fermentation, which finished in February. Juicy and light on its feet, with its flavors of white peach, menthol and dusty stone displaying modest flesh but lovely precision. Finishes with very good lift. The Bachelets will rack this wine just before the 2018 harvest, but it will remain in stainless steel until bottling next March or April."
88-91 points - Stephen Tanzer, Vinous Media, September 2018

"Crisp white fruit without the sulphidic complexity of their Santenay, but loads of leesy, mealy character on the palate. Very savoury and very dry to finish – cries out for food."

"The 2017 Maranges 1er Cru Clos de la Boutière reveals an appealing bouquet of cherries, candied peel, rich soil tones and a light touch of oak. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, deep and tensile, with a chalkier, tighter-knit profile than the more gourmand Fussière, with tangy acids and good length on the finish. Since these vines are pruned in cordon and escaped frost the last few years, yields have been relatively consistent."

"Notions of ripe plums, berries, loamy soil and licorice introduce the 2017 Maranges 1er Cru La Fussière, a medium to full-bodied, velvety wine with rich structuring tannins, a succulent core of fruit and juicy balancing acids. Pure and long on the finish, this hails from soils richer in clay and correspondingly more gourmand than the Clos de la Boutière."

    Bellavista Wine

    Italy (Italy), Lombardy (Italy)

    6 x 750 ml

    Breads, Pasta, Soft Cheese

White foam, exuberant and of excellent persistence. Very fine pearl necklaces to form a well-present and prolonged crown. Effervescence is dynamic and full of youth. Bright and bright yellow color with evident greenish reflections. Bouquet characterized by a marked minerality. Wide and inviting, it embraces nuances of ripe sweet fruit, meringue, pastry and candied citrus peel. Taste fully corresponding to the nose, with an almost crunchy creamy sensation and a texture that combines elegance and lightness, thickness and harmony. The vibrant and contemporary character represents its unmistakable identity. A character that is sustained, without any compromise, by a freshness that maintains its classicism for a long time, announcing its promise of longevity.

"Pretty aromas of bread dough, lemon and cooked apple. Fresh. Medium to full body, tangy acidity and a fruity finish. Always an outstanding sparkling wine. Drink now."

"The 2012 Pouilly Fuissé les Petites Bruyeres comes from 30-year-old vines, fermented in both barrel and stainless steel where the wine matures for 11 months. It has a pretty bouquet with scents of lemon peel, freshly cut pear, nettle and limestone. The palate is fresh and vibrant with crisp acidity, fine tension with a tightly wound, minerally finish that suggests two or three years in bottle will be required. This is an austere, but classy, Pouilly-Fuisse and I suspect it will age extremely well. This comes highly recommended."

    6 x 750 ml

Breads, Cured Meat, Rich Fish, Soft Cheese, White Meat

"This wine is the flagship for Cave Spring's increasingly important sparkling wine focus, which now involves four labels. It won a Lieutenant-Governor's Award in 2012. This 100% chardonnay was aged for three years, building subtle almond complexity into the dried apple, lemon and shortbread aromas. It is light-bodied, lively, gentle, delicate and a touch sweet, yet built on a beam of mineral acidity. There's excellent length on the finish. This is a terrific blanc de blanc."

Here's a compelling, varietally accurate Cabernet Franc from Tawse, that shows the true character of Niagara Cabernet Franc. We love the edge of green herbs, that hint of green pepper, and the vibrant core of raspberry, blackberry and black currant fruit, all backed by a cedary, twiggy undertone. The palate carries the fruit and herbs with bright acidity and very fine but persistent tannins, that linger with the fruit on the cedary finish. Firm, elegant and full of life.
