"Deep ruby, the fruit for this inaugural vintage was hand-sorted on the estate, aged 10 months in French oak. It showcases an alluring nose of bright red berries and ripe black cherry, cedar, mineral, dried herbs and spice. Dry, tangy and spicy, it’s medium-full bodied, blending a lively texture with ripe tannin, chocolate-coated coffee bean and a touch of vanilla mingling with cassis, black cherry and raspberry. Well structured, offering good complexity and balance, this wine finishes dry and long. It pairs well with roast beef and Yorkshire pudding."

We believe that Riesling grown in cool climate wine regions, like Niagara, produce food-friendly and age-worthy wines. Our "˜Old Vines' Riesling is an excellent example of this. Pinot Blanc VQA “...Pinot Bianco by any other name...”, Brian quipped as he noted the crisp, bright nature of the 2013 Pinot Blanc. "This wine takes me back to a childhood memory of sitting on a sunny hill, chewing on the white stalk of a new blade of grass." The fresh, sweet nuttiness of that taste memory rings true within this focussed, dry and cheerful wine. In addition, the crystal clarity of the summer sun somehow made its way into each bottle of this delightful vintage. Learn More

    Château Des Charmes

Canada (Canada), Niagara (Canada), Ontario (Canada)

    6 x 750 ml

This is complex, structured, simply delicious and was propagated from a clone discovered in their vineyard, it's Canada's first vinifera vine. Aromas of blueberry, cherry and spice mingle with wisps of pipe tobacco on the alluring nose. Medium-full bodied and generously textured, waves of sour cherry and ripe black currant interlace with roasted herbs and black pepper. The finish lingers with a solid core of ripe fruit, fine-grained tannin, good moderating acidity and oodles of charm. Learn More

The nose offers seamless aromas of tangerine, lemon and wet slate, with undertones of cut grass and anise. Full and quite dry in feel, the palate is silky and highly extracted, with intense flavours of grapefruit and yellow plum. Great tension between rich, crystalline textures and crisp, nervous acidity provides structure and balance throughout. The wine's steely edge carries notes of fresh basil and crushed-stone into a long finish. Learn More

This wine is burgundy in colour with garnet hues to the edge. On the nose, spicy notes of cloves and cinnamon along with penetrating red berry fruit are at the forefront, with earthy undertones in behind. The palate combines bright raspberry and Bing cherry fruit, crisp but well-integrated acidity and great intensity and persistence of flavour throughout. There is a definite gaminess and a hint of white pepper that lingers very long on the finish. All in all, this cooler vintage has delivered a classically-structured Pinot of considerable complexity. "This is a very attractive gewürztraminer, listed as off-dry but really quite dry to my palate. It displays very good weight and texture, with good structure and balance. Winemaker Angelo Pavan is forthright about his approach to this variety: “The acidity drops quickly in gewürztraminer, and a lot of people pick early to get the acidity. But I prefer to pick it later, to make sure the fruit is ripe. Gewürztraminer isn’t about acidity; you want this oily texture. If you want acidity, drink riesling.” This example clearly embodies his approach. It shows the classic flavour profile, some viscosity in the texture, and the characteristic slight bitterness toward the back palate. And the acidity? This is not a fat, low-acid gewürztraminer, any more than it’s the blowsy style. The acidity is here in ample degree, well balanced with the fruit, and adding freshness to the other qualities of this well-made wine."
