The Château Beauvillage estate dates back to 1925 and the domaine is currently run by third generation winemakers Valérie and Eric Bugada-Jean. The vineyards are divided among three towns: Couquecques, Civrac and Saint Christoly, mainly on clay and chalk soils that are largely composed of marine fossils. In fact, the logo on the label and cap is a fossilized urchin. Their privileged location between the Gironde Estuary and the Atlantic Ocean helps create full-bodied yet elegant wines. The vines have an average age of 35 years and consist of 55% Merlot and 45% Cabernet Sauvignon (a typical Médoc planting mix). The couple are very committed to practicing lutte raisonée and do everything they can to promote biodiversity in their vineyards. They make one wine only, a modern wine, immensely pleasurable and ready to drink young.
