The history of Haut-Bacalan traces back to 1726. It is located in the prestigious town of Pessac, near Bordeaux. In 1726, Charles Louis of Secondat, Baron de Montesquieu, acquired the estate with his friend and colleague Sarrau de Boynet from the Bordeaux Academy. Charles Louis sold the property in 1748 to Mr Bacalan.
