    Chateau Lafleur

    Bordeaux (France), France (France)

    1 x 750 ml

"This is a crazy nose of tangerines and blueberries, with raspberries and mushroom and berries. Full-bodied, with ultra fine tannins. This wine is all about texture, with phenomenal tannins and subtle fruits that just make you think. Evocative. It is layered, yet changes all the time. I can't believe it really. Speechless. Amazes me. Try in 2020." 100 points - James Suckling "An absolutely prodigious blend of 55% Cabernet Franc and 45% Merlot, the 2009 Lafleur displays the tell-tale characteristics of this great estate. Kirsch liqueur, licorice and floral notes are intermixed with raspberry in a very full-bodied, super-intense, opulent and multi-dimensional style. Extraordinarily dense and pure, but not heavy by any means, the intensity, texture, and richness of the 2009 Lafleur are reminiscent of the perfect 1982. Anticipated maturity: 2018-2040." 99 points - Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate > Learn More

    Moët & Chandon

    Champagne (France), France (France)

    1 x 750 ml

"Dark, vivid pink. Ripe red berries, rose oil and tangerine on the nose, plus a subtle note of toasty lees. Bitter cherry and berry skin flavors give way to softer raspberry in the middle, with a tangy blood orange nuance adding cut and lift. Packs a punch but shows very good clarity and delineation, finishing round, smooth and quite long."

    René Geoffroy

    Champagne (France), France (France)

    6 x 750 ml

Breads, Cured Meat, Rich Fish, Soft Cheese, White Meat

"The rich fig and red apple friuts of Cumières meunier create a compelling contrast with crisp malic acidity and tight grapefruit and lemon zest notes. Three years on lees makes for a generous maturity for an entry cuvée, reinforcing honey and fruit cake spice and a creamy texture."

93 points - Tyson Stelzer, The Champagne Guide 2016-2017

"Geoffroy's NV Brut Premier Cru Expression is totally alive in the glass. Vibrant and delineated, the Expression bursts from glass with dried pears, flowers, almonds and Chamomile. A blend of 47% Pinot Meunier, 40% Pinot Noir and 13% Chardonnay, the Expression is all about texture and volume from the red grapes, which give tons of richness without detracting from the wine's essential energy, tension and pure drive. A crystalline, layered finish rounds things out beautifully. This is a great showing from a wine loaded with class."

    Domaine Magellan

    France (France), Languedoc (France)

    12 x 750 ml

Breads, Cured Meat, Red Meat, Roasted Vegetables, Soft Cheese

Planted in the seventies, makes it one of the oldest Merlot vineyards in the Languedoc! The winemaking followed a classic pattern without over-extraction. No oak was used, although the wine was aged in concrete tank for 20 months. Of course it is a Merlot, but it is primarily a wine from the domaine's sandstone terroir: spicy smoky, with a great richness and smooth tannins. > Learn More

    Delamain

    Cognac (France), France (France)

    3 x 700 ml

Extra is the rarely used appellation for cognac that is far superior to X.O.An exquisite blend of aged Grande Champagne Cognacs, each cognac is aged separately in seasoned Limousin oak casks , and then married together for a further 2 years. It shows deep maturity and a full-bodied bouquet.

"Pungent aromas of white grapes and nectarines. Bright and citrusy flavors pair well with the smooth and somewhat suede-like texture that is laden with spices such as white pepper, mace and cardamom."

    Delamain

    Cognac (France), France (France)

    1 x 700 ml

This is a unique Cognac in that this used to be the Cognac of choice that the Delamain family reserved for themselves, and for their guests. It is an unblended, single estate, single cask Cognac a unique find in the world of Cognacs. This Cognac has benefitted from maximum barrel ageing, and with natural reduction which has dropped to 43% alcohol. From one cask to another, the Cognac changes, but is always a Cognac of unmatched purity. In general, the bouquet is powerful and long with floral notes, a rarity in older Cognacs. The palate is round and reveals rich fruit.

    Burgundy (France), France (France)

    12 x 750 ml

"This traditional-method sparkling wine from southern Burgundy entices the nose with caramel apple, lemon zest and toasty biscuit notes from time spent on its lees in the bottle. It has a generous palate of zesty citrus, ripe apple and brioche leading to a long, full and frothy finish. A good value Crémant, it’s well balanced with lively acidity and a delicate effervescence."

    92 points - Winecurrent.com, April 2018

"The dry, sparkling non-vintage Cremant de Bourgogne (100% Chardonnay) offers up notes of orange blossoms, tangerine oil and lemon rind. Fresh, lively, medium-bodied, penetrating and long, this is a sensational value in sparkling Chardonnay."

    Chateau Pape Clement

    Bordeaux (France), France (France)

    6 x 750 ml

Breads, Cured Meat, Hard Cheese, Red Meat, Roasted Vegetables

"Although the 2009 Pape Clement may not be as sublime as the 2005 or 2000, but it is very close to those two efforts, and it will be fascinating to compare them (as well as the 2008 and 2010) over the following three decades. A blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc with a modest 13.5% alcohol, the 2009 reveals considerable structure and tannin along with tell-tale notes of burning embers, scorched earth, graphite, blueberries, blackberries and toasty vanillin, and a full-bodied mouthfeel. This rich, full offering is surprisingly backward. This cuvee should drink well in 5-6 years as one rarely has to wait a decade or more to enjoy Pape Clement. It should age for three decades or more. This 13th century vineyard situated in the suburbs of Pessac is owned by one of Bordeaux's most interesting visionaries, Bernard Magrez. He has done a remarkable job in turning around this once moribund property that made a bevy of undrinkable wines into one of the superstars of Bordeaux."

    Chateau Pichon Baron

    Bordeaux (France), France (France)

    6 x 750 ml

Breads, Cured Meat, Hard Cheese, Red Meat

"Baron was trapped in its oak en primeur, seeming flashy, luscious and soft. Now bottled and shipped, it has the unremitting tannic power of the vintage, balanced by unrelenting purity of fruit that somehow manages to anesthetize the monstrous tannin, to soften the extremely dry, mineral-bound finish into a caress. The wine may be bombastic, but it's also succulent and as sweet as a ripe black raspberry. It's easy to imagine this wine 50 years from now, in impeccable condition."

    Tesseron

    Cognac (France), France (France)

    1 x 700 ml

"The Tesseron family, who made their fortune in Cognac (but are probably best known by wine lovers as the proprietor of Pontet Canet and Lafon Rochet) released tiny quantities of single vintage Cognacs. Although French law does not permit a vintage date to be used, this is all from 1929, and is very limited in availability. I'm not an expert on Cognac, but anything this smooth, silky, potent, and aromatic, is truly great stuff. It is about as ethereal Cognac as anyone could ever hope to drink."

"This wine stands out as a sensational effort just a few years away from full maturity. A 50/50 blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, the wine displays loads of scorched earth and smoky barbecue scents along with blueberry, black raspberry and black currant. The wine is expansive, has a savory, broad palate and a full-bodied mouthfeel, yet possesses vivid purity and uplift. The tannins are still present, but they are sweet and well-integrated. This wine should hit full maturity in another year or two and last for at least 20 more years."

"One of the more flamboyant and sumptuous wines of the vintage, this inky/purple-colored St.-Julien reveals thrilling levels of opulence, richness and aromatic pleasures. A soaring bouquet of creme de cassis, charcoal, graphite and spring flowers is followed by a super-concentrated wine with silky tannins, stunning amounts of glycerin, a voluptuous, multilayered mouthfeel and nearly 14% natural alcohol. Displaying fabulous definition for such a big, plump, massive, concentrated effort, I suspect the tannin levels are high even though they are largely concealed by lavish amounts of fruit, glycerin and extract. "Aromas of blueberry, minerals, flowers, and hints of brewed coffee. Sweet tobacco. Full bodied, with an amazing palate of intense dark fruits that verge on kir, but then a racy background of super fine tannins. Superb. Try after 2022."

    98 points - James Suckling, Nov 2011

"The competition between the 2009, 2005 and 2000 La Conseillante will be interesting to follow over the next twenty years. There was more of a selection process at this estate in 2009 than there was in 2000, resulting in a beautiful Pomerol offering notes of mulberries, sweet cherries, spring flowers, raspberries and truffles. The color is a healthy deep plum/ruby/purple and the wine is medium to full-bodied with silky tannins, a broad, layered mouthfeel and wonderful freshness as well as length. This gorgeous, complex, Burgundian-styled Pomerol will be drinkable in 4-6 years and should keep for 30-40. (The 1970 is still alive and that was not nearly as well made as the 2009.)"

    Chateau Montrose

    Bordeaux (France), France (France)

    6 x 750 ml

Breads, Cured Meat, Hard Cheese, Red Meat, Roasted Vegetables

"Harvested between September 17 and October 5, this wine seems always open for business, so to speak, much like the great 1982s. The summer of 2009 was very hot and dry, which got the harvest off to a reasonably early start. The blend was 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot. Jean Bernard Delmas’ goal was to find perfect equilibrium between freshness and concentration, given its incredible opulence and the voluptuous character this vintage offered. That’s what this wine has in abundance. With an astounding dense purple color, the wine has velvety, sweet tannins, and an extremely open-knit and opulent blueberry, blackberry and creme de cassis nose. There is scorched earth, vanilla and, again, telltale licorice and spice. It is unctuously textured – thicker and juicier than the 2010 and more forward. This wine should come into its own in another five years. And again, it has at least 50+ years of aging potential."

"The nose is out of this world, with lilacs, currants, blackberries, and blueberries. Full-bodied, with super silky tannins and savory fruit and amazing flavors of fine leather, blueberries, and sandalwood. The quality of the tannins are amazing, with creamy texture and bright acidity on the end. Such classic and classicism. Delicacy. Lasts for minutes on the palate. This is 13.2% alcohol. Best Margaux in bottle yet…will 2010 be as great? Try it in 2020."

    100 points - James Suckling, March 2012

"A brilliant offering from the Mentzelopoulos family, once again their gifted manager, Paul Pontallier, has produced an uncommonly concentrated, powerful 2009 Chateau Margaux made from 87% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest primarily Merlot with small amounts of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. As with most Medocs, the alcohol here is actually lower (a modest 13.3%) than most of its siblings-. Abundant blueberry, cassis and acacia flower as well as hints of charcoal and forest floor aromas that are almost Burgundian in their complexity are followed by a wine displaying sweet, well-integrated tannins as well as a certain ethereal lightness despite the wine's overall size. Rich, round, generous and unusually approachable for such a young Margaux, this 2009 should drink well for 30-35+ years."

    Chateau Cheval Blanc

    Bordeaux (France), France (France)

    3 x 750 ml

Breads, Cured Meat, Ham, Hard Cheese, Red Meat, Roasted Vegetables

"As many readers may know, 2015 was the first year since 1988 that Cheval Blanc did not produce its second wine, Petit Cheval. This said, parts of two of the Cheval Blanc blocks were not used at all—Plot 17A and the north part of Plot 10—which had problems with water availability during the dry spell, and the fruit was sold for bulk. Therefore, this vintage of the Grand Vin equates to roughly 90% of the total production, making it one of the most complete expressions of Cheval Blanc ever produced. Composed of 53% Merlot and 47% Cabernet Franc, the deep garnet-purple colored 2015 Cheval Blanc slowly opens up to reveal plum preserves, black forest cake, blackberry pie and pronounced licorice notes with suggestions of cloves, cinnamon stick, star anise, dried Provence herbs and lavender plus wafts of iron ore and dusty soil. Medium to full-bodied, rich and densely packed with incredible layers of black, red and blue fruits, it completely fills the palate with energy and expression, framed by very ripe, wonderfully velvety tannins and a racy line of acid, finishing with incredible length and poise. At once achingly graceful and captivatingly cerebral, this is a legendary vintage for this great estate."

The palate is fleshy and ripe with a fine bead of acidity, superb poise with an edgy, mineral-driven finish that lingers in the mouth. Recommended."

"The 2016 Pommard Les Grands Epenots 1er Cru has another perfumed and detailed bouquet that is sophisticated and entrancing. This is outstanding. The palate is detailed, mineral-driven and framed around its filigree tannin. Its discrete tart finish beckons another sip. What a beautifully realized Pommard from David Rebourgeon."

"The wine, with its firm tannins and solid structure, is still young. The hints of black-plum fruits are way behind the structure. That's all good, because this wine will come together well, to give a rich full wine with spice, juicy black fruits and acidity."

"The 2016 Maranges 1er Cru Clos de la Boutiere, which contains more clayey soils than Fussière’s chalkier "dirt," is a single parcel of 80-year-old vines that, in this vintage, includes 20% whole bunch fruit. It has a wonderful, fresh, vibrant bouquet with red cherries, wild strawberry and cranberry fruit, a touch of sous-bois and even a touch of pencil lead borrowed from left bank Bordeaux. The palate is medium-bodied with ripe, succulent tannin, although in the second half it narrows in a little to maintain focus and tension. It feels long and tender on the finish, which completes another delicious and quite cerebral Maranges from its finest exponents."

"The young vines fared well but the grapes were still sold off as per normal practice here. The older vines were 70% down in volume. Lovely light lemon, with a fine stylish nose. This is precise, chiselled even, with a lovely nuanced, graceful mid palate and a fine finish integrating fruit and acidity. Very good."

"This lieu-dit tends to produce rich, gastronomic Meursaults, and it has certainly done so in 2016. A classic bouquet of poached pear, peach and oatmeal precedes a full-bodied, ample palate. It is multidimensional and detailed, and underpinned by juicy acids which balance the site’s inherent voluminousness. This will deliver a lot of pleasure at the table."
