    Wm. Grant & Sons Ltd

    Speyside (Scotland)

    1 x 700 ml

Round and complex with a gentle development of floral honey. Nutty and oily with allspice aplenty. Warming and rich in the mouth. A sweet honey develops, vanilla, a hint of cigar leaf with nutty Sherry and a faint hint of smoke or malty peat. The finish is long and honeyed, subtly fading away with floral and fruity hints.

A rich, complex and quite beautiful Balvenie.

A highly thought of 30 year old from Balvenie that netted a Gold Medal at the 2010 International Spirits Challenge and a 90 points from Serge Valentin on Whisky fun.

    Tesseron

    Cognac (France), France (France)

    1 x 700 ml

"The Tesseron family, who made their fortune in Cognac (but are probably best known by wine lovers as the proprietor of Pontet Canet and Lafon Rochet) released tiny quantities of single vintage Cognacs. Although French law does not permit a vintage date to be used, this is all from 1929, and is very limited in availability. I'm not an expert on Cognac, but anything this smooth, silky, potent, and aromatic, is truly great stuff. It is about as ethereal Cognac as anyone could ever hope to drink."

    Château Cos d'Estournel

    Bordeaux (France), France (France)

    3 x 750 ml

Breads, Hard Cheese, Red Meat, Vegetables

"One of the greatest young wines I have ever tasted, the monumental 2009 Cos D'Estournel has lived up to its pre-bottling potential. A remarkable effort from the winemaking guru Jean-Guillaume Prats and owner Michel Reybier, this blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Merlot (33%) and a touch of Cabernet Franc (2%) was cropped at 33 hectoliters per hectare. It boasts an inky/black/purple color along with an extraordinary bouquet of white flowers interwoven with blackberry and blueberry liqueur, incense, charcoal and graphite. The wine hits the palate with extraordinary purity, balance and intensity as well as perfect equilibrium, and a seamless integration of tannin, acidity, wood and alcohol. An iconic wine as well as a remarkable achievement, it is the greatest Cos d'Estournel ever produced. It is approachable enough at present that one could appreciate it with several hours of decanting, but it will not hit its prime for a decade, and should age effortlessly for a half a century. Drink 2022-2072."
100 points - Robert Parker, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, March 2012

"Blended of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Merlot and 2% Cabernet Franc, the deep garnet-purple colored 2009 Cos d'Estournel takes a little coaxing to encourage the full array of exotic spices and decadent black fruits to emerge here: crème de cassis, baked plums, blueberry compote and Black Forest cake intermingled with star anise, fenugreek, cumin seed and Sichuan pepper plus wafts of menthol, violets and smoked meats. Wow—the full-bodied palate bursts with powerful, hedonic black fruit preserves and spices, completely coating the mouth with decadent fruits that are perfectly framed by very firm yet very ripe, grainy tannins and bold freshness, finishing with a veritable firework display of floral, spice and red fruit notes. Just stunning."

"What a fabulous nose of currants, raspberries and Indian spices. Nutmeg and clover. Full-bodied, with an amazing precision and superb compacted fruit. Endless. Laser guided. Shows such intensity. Decadent and rich and changing all the time. Mystical wine. Dense, yet agile. More refined than when I tasted it in November in Hong Kong. Try in 2018."

    Michel et Stéphane Ogier

    France (France), Northern Rhône (France)

    6 x 750 ml

    Hard Cheese, Red Meat, Vegetables

"Deep ruby. A deeply perfumed bouquet evokes fresh dark berries, violet, olive paste and smoky minerals, with a suave floral topnote. Offers densely packed black and blue fruit, floral pastille and spicecake flavors that stretch out slowly as the wine opens up. Displays excellent definition on a very long, lively finish that's given shape by chewy, building tannins. (JR) "

"The 2015 Côte Rôtie Reserve is brilliant stuff. I was able to taste this from two separate bottles and it never failed to impress. Coming from all the estate terroirs, and including some seriously top juice, its deep purple color is followed by a beautiful perfume of black raspberries, spiced meats, and incense, with an undeniable mineral/dried earth character developing with time in the glass. With full-bodied richness, ripe, yet present tannin, good mid-palate depth, and a great finish, it needs 2-3 years of bottle age and will cruise for 10-15 years. 93+"

     93 points - Jeb Dunnuck, Jan 2018

"The 2015 Cote Rotie Reserve is rich, velvety-textured and long. Raspberries and herbal notes are joined by hints of cured meat in this medium to full-bodied wine. It should drink well for up to 15 years. (JC)"
