    Bisol

    Italy (Italy), Veneto (Italy)

    12 x 750 ml

"The Bisol family has been making prosecco in Valdobbiadene in the Veneto for five generations and I can't think of any brand that I prefer. This merlot/pinot noir Rosé is a complete joy. A pale salmon pink, it's rose-scented, crisp yet full-flavoured. It's also dry with a welcoming touch of sweet citrus fruit. Light and elegant with a refreshing finish, it's a perfect choice for St Valentine's Day." - The Telegraph Double Gold Medal / Best Value - China Wine & Spirit Awards 2015 Gold Medal - Selection Mondiale des Vins 2012 Gold Medal - Mondiale du Rose 2012 > Learn More

    Luigi Righetti

    Italy (Italy), Veneto (Italy)

    12 x 750 ml

This is a well-balanced Amarone that still exhibits much of the dark fruit flavours, earth and meaty components expected of this DOC. Aromas of black cherry and prunes joined by beefy and earthy aromas. Moves along the palate nicely with a mix of dark and dried fruit with some meatiness on the finish. Elegant but exhibiting good concentration. You will not find many wines at this price and quality. > Learn More

    Azienda Agricola Le Rote

    Italy (Italy), Tuscany (Italy)

    12 x 750 ml

Breads, Cured Meat, Hard Cheese, Red Meat, Roasted Vegetables

In the shadow of the famous Towers of San Gimignano, Tuscan estate Le Rote makes a wonderfully charismatic Chianti Colli Senesi from 100% Sangiovese. It has rich, chewy dark fruit, ripe tannins, yet finishes very dry and clean. Remarkably, this wine was aged a full 1.5 years before release, a very rare and determined decision for a non-riserva Chianti -- and the results show in the bottle. Smooth, black-cherry and sweet tobacco linger on a faint, pleasant finish that is touched off by just the right hint of oak. Lovely. > Learn More

Breads, Cured Meat, Hard Cheese, Red Meat, Roasted Vegetables

"The 2007 Terra di Lavoro emerges from the glass with an array of floral red fruit, spices, berries and minerals. It is an especially forward, opulent Terra di Lavoro bursting with exuberance. There is something viscerally thrilling about the 2007, perhaps because Terra di Lavoro is typically so reticent when it is young. Not here. This is an open, wonderfully expressive vintage. The only thing left to wonder is if the wine will ever shut down in bottle. For now, readers who want to understand what makes Terra di Lavoro such a pedigreed wine may want to start here. Readers who prefer a firmer style will likely gravitate towards the 2006 or 2008, but this is a flat-out great bottle of wine with an explosive personality that carries through to the long, intensely satisfying finish. In 2007 the weather was consistently hot, but the 2007 doesn’t show the jamminess of the 2003 nor the sheer power of the 2001. Anticipated maturity: 2017-2032."

Orange peel, tobacco, star anise and a host of more exotic floral notes are all found. Aromatically beguiling and constantly changing in the glass, the 2006 has a lot to say. Sinopie refers to the guide lines that artists drew on the walls in preparation to paint large fresco's. Our own guide lines for making Sinopie Chianti are the crispness of its fruit, the vibrancy of acidity and its genius for pairing with foods. Such is the Sangiovese in the style of Classic Chianti. The wine exhibits bright cherry and raspberry fruit aromas with a hint of dried herbs. The palate is light to medium bodied with fresh cherries and a salty black licorice finish. > Learn More

"I love the way this wine has absorbed and reflects the sunny and warm personality of its maker, the brilliant Donatella Cinelli Colombini. The 2013 Brunello di Montalcino Prime Donne has her spirit and her vision, and I recognize that as I taste through these samples. Her distinctive winemaking mark is achieved with botte and tonneaux aging, and her style is definitely fuller and more generous than most. It's a modern Brunello, if you care to categorize wines in this way. Only 6,660 bottles were produced. The vineyards are exposed to wider horizons that make for more light hours each day (from dawn to sunset) of the growing cycle. I'm on team Donatella."

It has pleasant strawberry, cherry and plum aromas with hints of leather, autumn leaves and asian spice. The palate is vibrantly fruity and lightly tannic. Campolieti means "happy fields" and refers to the vineyards from which the grapes are harvested. The wine is a traditional blend of the Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara grape varietals that has had a second fermentation on the pressings of the Amarone grapes (a process called "ripasso"). After the second fermentation the wine is aged for one year, partly in French barriques and partly in 20hl oak barrels.

This wine is produced from 25 year old bush vines harvested by hand. Despite its youth, this wine really delivers on the palate, bursting with sumptuous dark cherry and blackberry fruit. Rich, round, juicy, and expressive with a silky edged finish. Drink now, but be sure to save a few bottles to see how it develops. > Learn More

"Dried nutmeg, cinnamon, dried herbs, redcurrants, cherry cake and lots of cedar and mahogany. Plenty of richness on the palate, which shows layers of dried red fruit, ripe tannins and a fruit-forward finish. There is also a dash of acidity at the end to freshen things up."

"The Castello della Paneretta 2014 Chianti Classico Riserva is 90% Sangiovese and 10% Canaiolo. The bouquet here is very distinctive, thanks to a wild side that is presented with balsam and medicinal herb. Those tones segue to black licorice and tar. For sure, this wine offers less primary fruit compared to the more exuberant and juicy 2015 vintage. But if you like those delicate nuances, as I do, you will agree that this wine does a great job in a difficult vintage. I would hold off from cellaring it for too long, because I believe it will offer the best drinking experience in the near term."
