  1. $239.94

    Dos Lusiadas

    Douro (Portugal), Portugal (Portugal)

    6 x 750ml

    Pasta, Red Meat

In 2009, Rhone super star Michel Chapoutier picked out a plot in the Douro Valley. A small – very small – plot of 3 hectares, but full of promise: Eleivera. Here, the winters are tough, the summer a long, dry heatwave. To get sufficient output, Michel Chapoutier joined forces with local producers incredibly honest and pure representations of this region, which is a Unesco world heritage site. A clear, deep black with sustained crimson highlights. A powerful nose, showing dark fruit at first, along with some “garrigue” and spicy notes. Aromas of fruit (cherries, prunes) macerated in “eau de vie” can also be detected. The whole is underpinned by mineral notes (graphite) that bring a great deal of freshness. Full on the palate supported by impressive velvety structure. There’s flesh, weight and depth, all rounded off by an incredibly long finish. The dark fruit comes through again, giving a crisp sensation underpinned by nice mineral tautness that endows this wine with freshness and remarkable balance. > Learn More

    Rich Fish, Scallop

Here, the winters are tough, the summer a long, dry heatwave. To get sufficient output, Michel Chapoutier joined forces with local producers incredibly honest and pure representations of this region, which is a Unesco world heritage site. The Eleivera Branco is a blend of native Rabigato, Gouveio, Códega do Larinho and Viosinho grapes which has 6 months lees ageing. It is an elegant, pale yellow in colour with hints of green. The nose is of fresh, fruity peaches and pears with notes of citrus. The palate continues the flavours on the nose with a clean, fresh finish and lovely texture. > Learn More

"This sumptuously rich wine has the ripest black fruits along with solid tannins. The juicy acidity is what gives the wine its balance and that will develop as the powerful wine matures further."
