    Château Des Charmes

Canada (Canada), Niagara (Canada), Ontario (Canada)

    6 x 750 ml

    Pasta, Vegetables, White Meat

“Bright golden colour. Tropical fruit abounds with pineapple and ripe melon alongside pronounced toasty oak. This is ripe and buttery expression of Chardonnay with lots of spicy wood and even notes of chalky minerality coming through. This wine is still youthful and though the wood is presently at the forefront, there is ample concentration of fruit for the elements to integrate beautifully.”

    Henry Of Pelham

    Niagara (Canada), Ontario (Canada)

    6 x 750 ml

Henry of Pelham makes some of the longest-lived Rieslings in Niagara and they back that up by releasing in the retail store back vintages from time to time. I love that the winery releases its top wines (which it makes only in the best vintages) always with some bottle age so that consumers enjoy the wine as it is meant to be enjoyed. We tend to drink Niagara Rieslings (all Rieslings, in fact) far too young. With appropriate age, those wonderful petrol notes emerge and the acid softens to show a more balanced expression of this lovely variety. This is a gorgeous Riesling and one that will age gracefully for 10 years or more. The nose shows intense citrus-pear fruit with wet-stone minerality, petrol and an attractive waxy-lanolin note beginning to emerge. It is juicy and racy on the palate with that playful tension that makes Riesling so exciting, and through it all, a wonderful, fresh mineral note adds complexity and personality. It will age gracefully for 8 to 12 years. If we had a 'Grand Cru' appellation system in Ontario the Riesling vineyard of Henry of Pelham would catch attention. This vineyard produces lovely fruit. This wine is as rich and full as we find in the dry Rieslings of Alsace, and has a brilliant stripe of acidity lacing it together. The Speck family is shooting for the stars with the low yields and hand crafted care they give these grapes: job well done. > Learn More

    Roasted Vegetables

Laura’s Red is the namesake of our founding owner, and we’ve been bottling versions since 1999. You could say that this elegant and rich Bordeaux-styled blend was what first put us on the map as a producer of consistently fine Niagara red wines sold at a fair price. The key to maintaining that quality in the region’s ever-variable vintages lies in the art of the blend. We tinker with proportions of the component varieties to hit the same flavour profile year-in, year-out. We hope it hits your targets too!

    6 x 750 ml

Cured Meat, Hard Cheese, Red Meat

This single vineyard expression of Gamay is beautifully representative in every way. The violet, black current and raspberry notes are all expressed over a foundation of the aroma of tilled earth just before a lightning storm. A firm but resolved tannin structure is interlaced with a bright acidity making this wine ideal for pairings, and as these essential elements are finely balanced within this versatile wine, incredible flexibility and diversity is allowed. Duck, lighter beef dishes, pork and even some fish will make great accompaniments to this wine. Invite this Gamay to dinner. The conversation on and around the
    plate will be classic.

An elegant bouquet showing classic aromas of black cherry, wild raspberry and savoury beetroot. The palate is rich and silky with moderate tannins finishing with a hint of darkness chocolate. We wanted this Pinot Noir to showcase the elegant character of Niagara Pinot without excessive oak influence. Drinking well now (give it some air!) or rest in the cellar to 2022 to encourage a silky texture over time.
