The Antinori family has been committed to the art of winemaking for over six centuries since 1385 when Giovanni di Piero Antinori became a member, of the 'Arte Fiorentina dei Vinattieri', the Florentine Winemaker's Guild. All throughout its 26 generation history, the Antinori family has made innovative and sometimes bold decisions while upholding the utmost respect for traditions and the environment.
After seeing the potential of the region through decades of crafting Ornellaia, the Antinori family founded Tenuta di Biserno just north of the Ornellaia estate in partnership with Rolland to explore the untapped areas of Bolgheri – knowing from experience how exceptional the results could be. Tenuta Campo di Sasso, the vineyard where this bottling's grapes are produced, extends over 56 hectares and is at a lower altitude than the Biserno estate. The soil is sandier, and it is hotter during the summer months. These conditions are perfect for the cultivation of Syrah and Vermentino, as well as the main Bordeaux varieties. This is exceptional terroir.
