    Jean-Marc Bouley

    Burgundy (France), France (France)

    6 x 750 ml

Ham, Pasta, Red Meat, Suckling Pig, Veal roasted, Vegetables

"There is enough wood to warrant mentioning but not enough to overshadow the wonderfully spicy aromas of plum, black cherry and cassis. I very much like the texture of the extract-rich medium weight plus flavors that are at once powerful yet refined, all wrapped in a very firm, balanced and long finish."

    Jean-Marc Bouley

    Burgundy (France), France (France)

    6 x 750ml

Cured Meat, Ham, Lard, Red Meat, Suckling Pig, Vegetables

"The 2016 Volnay 1er Cru Les Caillerets was not touched by frost this vintage according to winemaker Thomas Bouley. It has a very focused, energetic bouquet that unfurls with alacrity in the glass, offering more black fruit than red and subtle earthy/loamy tones. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, a crisp line of acidity, bright and tensile with just a little attenuation on the finish that I am sure will not be there once in bottle. Give this 3 or 4 years in bottle and you will have a quintessential Caillerets."

"The 2016 Pommard 1er Cru Les Fremiers was cropped at just 9 hectoliters per hectare, or two barrels, this vintage. It has a gentle bouquet that works up through the gears with aeration, developing lovely mineral-rich red cherry and strawberry fruit with fine delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, quite poised and focused, not a powerful or fruit-driven Pommard but brimming over with tension and poise. Excellent."

    Michel et Stéphane Ogier

    France (France), Northern Rhône (France)

    6 x 750 ml

    Hard Cheese, Red Meat, Vegetables

"Deep ruby. A deeply perfumed bouquet evokes fresh dark berries, violet, olive paste and smoky minerals, with a suave floral topnote. Offers densely packed black and blue fruit, floral pastille and spicecake flavors that stretch out slowly as the wine opens up. Displays excellent definition on a very long, lively finish that's given shape by chewy, building tannins. (JR) "

"The 2015 Côte Rôtie Reserve is brilliant stuff. I was able to taste this from two separate bottles and it never failed to impress. Coming from all the estate terroirs, and including some seriously top juice, its deep purple color is followed by a beautiful perfume of black raspberries, spiced meats, and incense, with an undeniable mineral/dried earth character developing with time in the glass. With full-bodied richness, ripe, yet present tannin, good mid-palate depth, and a great finish, it needs 2-3 years of bottle age and will cruise for 10-15 years. 93+"

"The 2015 Cote Rotie Reserve is rich, velvety-textured and long. Raspberries and herbal notes are joined by hints of cured meat in this medium to full-bodied wine. It should drink well for up to 15 years. (JC)"

    6 x 750 ml

Breads, Hard Cheese, Red Meat, Roasted Vegetables, Vegetables

"I had tasted this wine from barrel last year, and the wine was already shaping up beautifully back then. Staying the course, the 2015 Barolo Bricco Boschis shows extreme elegance and finesse. These are the characteristics of what is surely one of the most beautiful vineyard sites in Barolo. The Bricco Boschis cru affords a panoramic view onto much of the Langhe, with snowcapped Alps in the background. Barolo from Castiglione Falletto tends to show characteristics that are very fine, precise and linear. That's fundamentally what you get here despite the more exuberant and fleshy 2015 vintage. This wine is truly beautiful."

  7. New Valtuille El Rapolao Bierzo by Castro Ventosa 2015

    $444.00

    Bodegas Castro Ventosa

    Bierzo (Spain), Spain (Spain)

    6 x 750 ml

Ham, Hard Cheese, Red Meat, Vegetables

"Located in a cooler part of Valtuille, El Rapolao is a vineyard that is bottled by a number of different producers, mostly from the circle of influence of Raúl Pérez. The 2015 Valtuille El Rapolao fermented with full clusters in oak vats with indigenous yeasts and matured in well-seasoned, neutral 500-liter oak barrels. As with all old vineyards, the Mencía is interplanted with other varieties, like Estaladiña, Garnacha Tintorera and Souson, which might add to the tension the wine has, something that is especially remarkable in a warm and dry year like 2015. The palate has power and very good freshness, more elegant and with less rusticity despite its earthy touch. 2015 yielded well and there are some 1,700 bottles of it."

    Giovanni Manzone

    Italy (Italy), Piedmont (Italy)

    6 x 750 ml

Breads, Hard Cheese, Red Meat, Veal roasted, Vegetables

"The 2014 Barolo Castelletto is another very pretty wine from Manzone. Orange peel, rose petal, rosemary, star anise, mint and kirsch give the 2014 a slightly exotic quality that is hugely appealing. The 2014 is already quite expressive and giving. It should drink well for another 15-20 years, maybe more."

    Quinta da Muradella

    Monterrei (Spain), Spain (Spain)

    6 x 750 ml

Rich Fish, Soft Cheese, Vegetables, White Meat

"Limpid, yellow-gold. A highly complex, mineral-laced bouquet evokes fresh citrus and orchard fruits, chalky minerals, sweet butter and white flowers. A hint of anise emerges with air. Shows noteworthy depth and sharp delineation in the mouth, offering vibrant orange zest, pear nectar, buttered toast and succulent herb flavors that tighten up slowly on the back half. Powerful, yet graceful in character, displaying superb focus and mineral thrust on an impressively long finish that features lingering floral and orchard fruit flourishes. (Aged in a combination of stainless steel tanks and used 500-liter French oak barrels.)"

"Camphor, dark spice, wild herbs and woodland berry aromas shape the nose. On the focused palate, bright acidity and taut, refined tannins accompany crushed raspberry, juicy Marasca cherry and star anise. Mint and orange zest notes give depth to the finish."
