"Ann Sperling's whole cluster, skin-contact, anti-modern machinery macerated Vidal is Ontario's amber torch bearer. Others have dabbled with the methodology and yet Sperling's speaks with clarity and irony. With plans to adjust existing parameters or create non-fictional ones as a new category within the incarcerating rigours of VQA designation, this Whimsy is anything but... The 2014 has stood up to time, persistently going strong at 13 months old, evolving, still teaching. In 2015 we find quite a consistent second kick at the natural can as a follow-up to the inaugural 2014. The citrus ratchets a notch or two as does the weight. Though there is less grapefruit and more warmth of flavour, there is certainly a push-pull of mineral manifested in the guise of a dissolving fizzy tablet. It's not a funky mess of enzymes and questionable bacteria. The 2015 Orange sits atop a foundation of fruit and acidity, cantilevers with structure and finishes with sincere length. Ersatz Ontario wine my tail. Consider the possibilities. Drink 2016-2018. Tasted January 2016."
