Silky, seamless and appealingly sweet, offering concentrated raspberry and boysenberry flavors and a refreshingly bitter jolt of blood orange. Closes on an emphatic red fruit note, with gentle tannic grip and excellent persistence. This reminds me a lot of a high-class Burgundy from a warm vintage, or maybe a Grenache-based, cool-year southern Rhône wine.

It begins with inviting aromas of dried cherries and wild berries which are laced with leather, dried florals, minerals with hints of eucalyptus, orange rind andspices which all develop beautifully. It goes on to impress with its medium-plus body and gorgeous silky tannins that beautifully caress the palate. Displaying outstanding balance and finesse this goes on to throughly impress all the way through the lingering finish. This is drinking remarkably well even ay this early stage and should go on to evolve nicely with some bottle age. A magical effort from Andrea Cortonesi, who has who certainly excelled in making a wonderful wine in this extremely difficult vintage."

    "A superb vintage in the region has produced a great 2014 Reserva, a wine where they select grapes from the soils with more limestone within their estate. A blend of 80% Tempranillo with 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, it has good ripeness, power and freshness, coming through as a textbook Reserva. It's still young and lively after an élevage in French barrels (40% of them new) for some 20 months. This was inspired by some wines from Bordeaux, even though it has a somewhat more Mediterranean profile... The palate of this 2014 is better than the nose at the moment. Sisseck compared 2014 to 1995, an almost perfect year in the region."

    "The 2015 Côte Rôtie Reserve is brilliant stuff. I was able to taste this from two separate bottles and it never failed to impress. Coming from all the estate terroirs, and including some seriously top juice, its deep purple color is followed by a beautiful perfume of black raspberries, spiced meats, and incense, with an undeniable mineral/dried earth character developing with time in the glass. With full-bodied richness, ripe, yet present tannin, good mid-palate depth, and a great finish, it needs 2-3 years of bottle age and will cruise for 10-15 years. 93+"
