  1. New Legado del Moncayo Garnacha by Isaac Fernandez Selección 2019

    $179.88

    Isaac Fernandez Selección

Campo de Borja (Spain), Spain (Spain)

    12 x 750 ml

Breads, Cured Meat, Hard Cheese, Red Meat, Roasted Vegetables

“The 2017 Garnacha Tinto from Legado del Moncayo is nicely ripe, coming in at fourteen percent octane and delivering a classic varietal nose of black raspberries, roasted venison, pepper, garrigue, a touch of celery seed and a complex base of stony soil tones. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, complex and impressively soil-driven, with a rock solid core, ripe tannins and a long, tangy and very well-balanced finish. This is an insanely good value at $11 per bottle here in the states and reminds me of when Châteauneuf du Pape was the bargain in French wines back in the early 1980s! It is approachable today, but will also age very nicely and will be even better with a few years in the cellar to let the tannins soften up a bit more. A great value! 2019- 2035.”

  2. New Hacienda Lopez de Haro Rioja Crianza by Bodega Classica 2017

    $215.88

    Bodega Classica

    Rioja (Spain), Spain (Spain)

    12 x 750 ml

Cured Meat, Ham, Red Meat, Veal roasted

The 2017 Lopez de Haro Crianza has a mellow bouquet of dried herbs, terracotta tiles and red and black fruit that is very well-defined. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin: tart red berried fruit, laced with tobacco and dried herbs on the dry, crisp finish. This is a superb classical Rioja Crianza and a steal at this price.

Youthful violet color. Aromas of ripe red/blue fruits, cola, licorice and allspice are accompanied by a smoky mineral topnote. Appealingly sweet and expansive on the palate, offering juicy black raspberry and cherry flavors that firm up slowly through the mid-palate. Finishes with gentle, even tannins, a hint of florality and persistent spiciness. > Learn More

    Bernabeleva

    Madrid (Spain), Spain (Spain)

    6 x 750 ml

Breads, Hard Cheese, Red Meat, Vegetables

The 2017 Carril del Rey has a very pale color, the palest of the single vineyard reds, as the Garnacha here tends to have less color in warmer vintages when the ripening is faster and deeper colors in cooler years when ripening is slower and more complete. This is always a more Mediterranean expression of Garnacha, but this year the wine is unusually fine, elegant, aromatic and floral, with less alcohol than the 2018 I tasted next to it. It has an herbal and spicy twist, which makes it quite attractive. It's quite ethereal and showy, quite delicate. This seems to transcend the vintage. 2,200 bottles produced. It was bottled in March 2019.

    Rotllan Torra

    Priorat (Spain), Spain (Spain)

    6 x 750 ml

Breads, Cured Meat, Ham, Hard Cheese, Red Meat, Roasted Vegetables

"A prodigious effort, the 2001 Tirant is a 9,000-bottle cuvee made from 30% Grenache (90-100 years old), 25% Carignan (90-100 years old), 25% young vine Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Syrah, and 10% Merlot. Fermented in large oak foudres and aged 12 months in new French oak, it will be bottled with neither fining nor filtration. Inky/purple-colored to the rim, it boasts a spectacular bouquet of blueberries, blackberries, and the region’s classic crushed stone minerality. This full-throttle yet remarkably elegant 2001 possesses tremendous intensity and texture as well as layers of flavor, but comes across as not over the top, overripe, or overly heavy. The 60-second finish reveals more noticeable tannin than the other cuvees. Give it 1-2 years of cellaring and drink it over the following 10-15. The 2001 Tirant is indeed a special wine."
