Château Vieux Landat is a small family winery that makes traditional wines and single-variety cuvees without the addition of sulfites. In summer 1999, Pierre Signolle took over the wine estate and with more than ten years of experience in viticulture. He decided to rejuvenate the estate, and between 2000 and 2010, he replanted the majority of the vineyards with Merlot. The winery building was also redesigned with the installation of all modern facilities and winemaking equipment. Low temperature vinification is made possible with temperature controlled vessels. In 2015, Sophie Signolle, Pierre’s wife, and their children, Diane and Nicolas, took over the handling of the winery and continue to make improvements to both the vineyards and the winery.

The winery, along with 18 hectares of vineyards, is present in Haut-Medoc. Around 10 hectares of vines grow in Saint-Estephe. Sustainable agriculture is one of the main aims of the winery. They experiment, try new things, and seek continuous improvement, for example, experiments like using sheep to help control grass or promoting vineyard biodiversity. Their company has recently obtained the level 3 HVE (High Environmental Value) certification and is now part of the Crus Bourgeois du Médoc classification. The main grape varieties they grow in their estate are Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Franc. These grapes are processed to make their organic and natural red wines.
