    Colinas do Douro

    Douro (Portugal), Portugal (Portugal)

    12 x 750 ml

Breads, Cured Meat, Hard Cheese, Red Meat, Roasted Vegetables

"Produced from old vines, this blend of Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca and Tinta Roriz is rich and dense. It has firm tannins at this young stage although it is obviously going to become a generous rich wine as it develops. It has a fine future of complex structure and fruit."

    Sellout Risk: HIGH

I am very sad to say it, but we are down to the last 500 cases of this wine. The legend ends here for the final allocation of the 2010 Vintage. - Aaron Bick, Co-founder

"The 2010 Hacienda Lopez de Haro Crianza feels quite classical in its style, lightly-colored, with clean red spicy fruit, a touch of leather and a polished, soft palate that makes it very pleasant and easy to drink. At this price level this wine is a steal! Drink 2014-2018."

    Rioja (Spain), Spain (Spain)

    12 x 750 ml

Breads, Cured Meat, Hard Cheese, Red Meat, Roasted Vegetables

The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin: tart red berried fruit, laced with tobacco and dried herbs on the dry, crisp finish. This is a superb classical Rioja Crianza and a stunning value.

    Isaac Fernandez Selección

    Calatayud (Spain), Spain (Spain)

    12 x 750 ml

Breads, Cured Meat, Hard Cheese, Red Meat, Roasted Vegetables

"The Acentor bottling from Isaac Fernandez is produced from vines that are more than fifty years of age, which are planted at relatively high altitudes of seven hundred and fifty to nine hundred meters above sea level, with the soils being iron-rich clay. The wine is fermented with indigenous yeasts in cement tanks and aged in a combination of French and American casks. The wine offers up a deep, ripe and nicely complex nose of black cherries, grilled venison, coffee grounds, scorched earth and a touch of fresh herbs in the upper register. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and complex, with nice, plush black fruit on the attack, a good signature of soil, fine depth at the core and lovely length and grip on the ripely tannic and peppery finish. This is 14.5 percent octane, but very nicely balanced. A great, great value at fourteen dollars a bottle here in New York! 2017-2035."

    Cave Spring Cellars

    6 x 750 ml

On the nose, scents of white flowers, wet stone, and cantaloupe emerge over top hints of black licorice and fresh herbs. The palate is medium dry with concentrated pink grapefruit and mandarin orange on the attack, giving way to yellow cherry fruit on the mid-palate. The finish is very persistent, with notes of crushed stone, spice and citrus zest. The long, cool ripening of this vintage has delivered remarkable flavour complexity and a seamless integration of body and acidity on the palate.

"This is a very attractive gewürztraminer, listed as off-dry but really quite dry to my palate. It displays very good weight and texture, with good structure and balance. Winemaker Angelo Pavan is forthright about his approach to this variety: “The acidity drops quickly in gewürztraminer, and a lot of people pick early to get the acidity. But I prefer to pick it later, to make sure the fruit is ripe. Gewürztraminer isn’t about acidity; you want this oily texture. If you want acidity, drink riesling.” This example clearly embodies his approach. It shows the classic flavour profile, some viscosity in the texture, and the characteristic slight bitterness toward the back palate. And the acidity? This is not a fat, low-acid gewürztraminer, any more than it’s the blowsy style. The acidity is here in ample degree, well balanced with the fruit, and adding freshness to the other qualities of this well-made wine." 4 1/2 out of 5 stars - Rod Phillips, Winepointer, Nov 2014 (2012 vintage) 90 Points - Globe and Mail - Beppi Crosariol > Learn More

    Matsu

    Spain (Spain), Toro (Spain)

    12 x 750 ml

Breads, Cured Meat, Hard Cheese, Red Meat, Roasted Vegetables

Picaro means 'rogue' or 'rascal', and this rapscallion of a wine is a youthful interpretation of the Toro region's style. The grapes come from mature vines of over 50 years of age, but the wine spends only three months in oak, preserving their natural fruit profile. Vivid crimson-purple in the glass. Aromas are of ripe blackberries and raspberries, with subtle hints of fresh cocoa. The palate is bold yet supple, with ripe tannins and a mineral grip. Enjoy on its own or with boldly flavoured pasta dishes or spicy meat skewers.

    Señorio de Barahonda

    Spain (Spain), Yecla (Spain)

    12 x 750 ml

Breads, Cured Meat, Hard Cheese, Red Meat, Roasted Vegetables

"The 2014 Campo Arriba comes from one of the highest elevations in Yecla and it's a blend of 70% Mourvèdre, 20% Syrah and 10% Grenache aged three months in small French oak. This winery, started in 1925 by the Candela family, has really hit pay day with this amazing value. Blackberries, blueberries, acacia flowers, and chalky minerality dominate the aromatics and flavors. It is full-bodied, the price is absurdly low for a wine of this quality, and I suspect it can age nicely for another 5-6 years, although its true value is its exuberance, fruit purity and density."

The nose offers seamless aromas of tangerine, lemon and wet slate, with undertones of cut grass and anise. Full and quite dry in feel, the palate is silky and highly extracted, with intense flavours of grapefruit and yellow plum. Great tension between rich, crystalline textures and crisp, nervous acidity provides structure and balance throughout. The wine's steely edge carries notes of fresh basil and crushed-stone into a long finish.
