The 2020 Barolo Arione is a gorgeous Barolo. The nose offers orange peel, white pepper, sweet red cherry, kirsch, white pepper, iron and dried herbs. This exotic, beguiling Barolo is wonderfully aromatic and nuanced. A kick of Serralunga acids and tannin punctuates the salivating finish.
"A wine that exhibits mastery and refinement, coming from the cru of the territory of Serralunga d'Alba. The aroma opens with notes of cranberry, with sensations of Roman mint and clementine peel. The mouthfeel is brackish, with great density and persistence. The finish is citrusy and fruity.”
97 Points - Luca Gardini, 2020 Barolo Report, April 2024
Best Sommelier of the World 2010
"The 2020 Barolo Arione dazzles from start to finish. Red fruit, iron, chalk, mint and white pepper give this nuanced, aromatically beguiling Barolo a lot of personality. Readers will find a complex wine with a ton of structure and character.
Enzo Boglietti's 2021s and 2020s are more than worthy follow-ups to the 2019s. The shift toward a style that emphasizes freshness has been especially meaningful at this address because of a facus on single-vineyard wines. Whereas the nuances of site were once buried under oak and heavy extractions, today the wines are vivid and highly expressive of place, thanks to a much more classic approach to vinification. Readers who have not tasted these wines in some time owe it to themselves to do so, as quality has exploded in the last few years. As good as the wines are now, my feeling is that there is still room to grow."
