"All the wines go through malolactic in barrel, including the white 2022 Nelin, a blend that has been changing over time. In 2022, it was produced exclusively with local varieties, Garnacha Blanca, Macabeu, Xarel·lo, Cariñena Blanca, Picapoll Blanco, Trepat Blanco, PX and Escanyavelles from four small organic vineyards. Despite the dry conditions and the heat waves, it came after the 2021, and the vines had enough reserves, so the wines are fresher than expected. It's a Mediterranean blend with 14% alcohol and 5.3 grams of acidity, clean and harmonious. The north-facing plots behaved very well, and the varieties can take the conditions without a problem, so the wine doesn't seem affected at all. In fact, it's quite fresh, medium-bodied and very tasty, serious and characterful, a triumph over the extreme conditions of the year. It's a white with aging potential. 9,000 bottles were filled in April 2024."in bottle. They planted three new hectares of white grapes, so volumes will grow in future years."

Founded in 1979 by René Barbier III and his wife, Isabelle Meyer, Clos Mogador was part of a new wave of ‘Clos’ wineries that released their first joint 1989 vintage to great acclaim. They have gone on to garner impressive scores by wine critics and have built up one of the most well-known brands in all of Priorat.
René Barbier III is descended from a family of French winemakers although he was born in Tarragona and grew up in Catalonia. Coming with his wife Isabelle Meyer and their young children to the Priorat region, he found a promising wine region that had been neglected for years.
In addition to their namesake Clos Mogador, they released a white wine called Nelin as well as another red called, Manyetes. The Clos Mogador was one of the first wines to be awarded the ‘Vi de Finca’ certification in Catalonia which signifies that it has been produced for over a decade from the same, single vineyard.
The name of the winery comes from ‘Les Gens de Mogador’ (The people of Mogador) which chronicles the rise and fall of a family from near Avignon in France on an imaginary estate called, Mogador and closely parallels the Barbier family history.
