  1. Redstone Winery

    Niagara (Canada), Ontario (Canada)

    6 x 750 ml

Cured Meat, Red Meat, Roasted Vegetables

Named for its heavy red clay soil and large stones, the organically and biodynamically Redstone estate vineyard is perfect for maturing late-ripening varietals like Merlot. This is a bold Merlot of exceptional con-centration. Beautifully rich and ripe, the nose is dominated by dark fleshy fruits — think black cherry and plum — as well as chocolate. Blackberry and blackcurrant show first on the palate followed by sa-voury notes of coffee, cedar and hints of smoke and spice from 18 months spent in French oak — 40% new.

"The Bisol family has been making prosecco in Valdobbiadene in the Veneto for five generations and I can't think of any brand that I prefer. This merlot/pinot noir Rosé is a complete joy. A pale salmon pink, it's rose-scented, crisp yet full-flavoured. It's also dry with a welcoming touch of sweet citrus fruit. Light and elegant with a refreshing finish, it's a perfect choice for St Valentine's Day." - The Telegraph Double Gold Medal / Best Value - China Wine & Spirit Awards 2015 Gold Medal - Selection Mondiale des Vins 2012 Gold Medal - Mondiale du Rose 2012 > Learn More

    Roasted Vegetables

Laura’s Red is the namesake of our founding owner, and we’ve been bottling versions since 1999. You could say that this elegant and rich Bordeaux-styled blend was what first put us on the map as a producer of consistently fine Niagara red wines sold at a fair price. The key to maintaining that quality in the region’s ever-variable vintages lies in the art of the blend. We tinker with proportions of the component varieties to hit the same flavour profile year-in, year-out. We hope it hits your targets too!

    Château Des Charmes

Canada (Canada), Niagara (Canada), Ontario (Canada)

    6 x 750 ml

Hard Cheese, Red Meat, Roasted Vegetables

Our flagship red wine, Equuleus is a classically styled blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Cabernet Franc and 25% Merlot. But we don't make it every year. To be considered an "Equuleus year" each of the three grape varieties must have achieved at least 23.5º Brix at harvest. 2010 was considered one of Niagara's greatest vintages and our Equuleus is a testament to that belief. Aged for one year in French Tronçais and Allier oak barrels, this wine is rich and complex with flavours of cassis and dark chocolate. Equuleus is ready to drink now, but will continue to develop in the bottle for at least another 5-10 years. > Learn More

Canada (Canada), Niagara (Canada), Ontario (Canada)

    6 x 750 ml

Breads, Cured Meat, Hard Cheese, Red Meat, Roasted Vegetables

The Speck Family Reserves hail from the estate’s oldest vineyards in the Short Hills Bench, shovel planted by the Speck Brothers starting in 1988. These thirty-plus-year-old vines are among Canada’s oldest of any consequence. This age further restricts the yield per vine while adding in even more complexity of flavour. Typically the SFR wines are composed from their most interesting, dry-farmed vineyards, which enjoy southern exposure. All vines are clonally selected except in a few special cases where the plantings are old enough to predate this practice, making these unique vineyard blocks an opportunity to add qualities that cannot easily be reproduced.

2012 was a vintage of the decade for reds, the best year since 1998. The summer was long, warm and dry, creating excellent ripeness and sugar levels.

Concentrated dark fruit tones balanced by black raspberry nuances. A hand-picked blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot where yields were restricted to less than 2 tonnes per acre and aged in French oak barrels. This wine will improve with 7 to 10 years of cellaring.

    12 x 750 ml

Planted in the seventies, makes it one of the oldest Merlot vineyards in the Languedoc! The winemaking followed a classic pattern without over-extraction. No oak was used, although the wine was aged in concrete tank for 20 months. Of course it is a Merlot, but it is primarily a wine from the domaine's sandstone terroir: spicy smoky, with a great richness and smooth tannins. > Learn More

    Terres de Vidalba

    Priorat (Spain), Spain (Spain)

    6 x 750 ml

“The 2007 TOCS was sourced from a single vineyard named Barranc de la Bruixa located outside the town of Poboleda. The blend is 35% Garnacha, 30% Syrah, with the balance Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot aged for 16 months in 20% new French oak. Aromas of wood smoke, mineral, herbs, lavender, black cherry, and blueberry inform the nose of this layered, opulent Priorat. With excellent volume and enough structure to evolve for 1-2 years, this sweetly-fruited, lengthy offering will be at its best from 2013 to 2022.” - Wine Advocate, May 2011

    Chateau Pape Clement

    Bordeaux (France), France (France)

    6 x 750 ml

Breads, Cured Meat, Hard Cheese, Red Meat, Roasted Vegetables

"Although the 2009 Pape Clement may not be as sublime as the 2005 or 2000, but it is very close to those two efforts, and it will be fascinating to compare them (as well as the 2008 and 2010) over the following three decades. A blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc with a modest 13.5% alcohol, the 2009 reveals considerable structure and tannin along with tell-tale notes of burning embers, scorched earth, graphite, blueberries, blackberries and toasty vanillin, and a full-bodied mouthfeel. This rich, full offering is surprisingly backward. This cuvee should drink well in 5-6 years as one rarely has to wait a decade or more to enjoy Pape Clement. It should age for three decades or more. This 13th century vineyard situated in the suburbs of Pessac is owned by one of Bordeaux's most interesting visionaries, Bernard Magrez. He has done a remarkable job in turning around this once moribund property that made a bevy of undrinkable wines into one of the superstars of Bordeaux."

    6 x 750 ml

"Baron was trapped in its oak en primeur, seeming flashy, luscious and soft. Now bottled and shipped, it has the unremitting tannic power of the vintage, balanced by unrelenting purity of fruit that somehow manages to anesthetize the monstrous tannin, to soften the extremely dry, mineral-bound finish into a caress. The wine may be bombastic, but it's also succulent and as sweet as a ripe black raspberry. It's easy to imagine this wine 50 years from now, in impeccable condition."

"This wine stands out as a sensational effort just a few years away from full maturity. A 50/50 blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, the wine displays loads of scorched earth and smoky barbecue scents along with blueberry, black raspberry and black currant. The wine is expansive, has a savory, broad palate and a full-bodied mouthfeel, yet possesses vivid purity and uplift. The tannins are still present, but they are sweet and well-integrated. This wine should hit full maturity in another year or two and last for at least 20 more years."

"One of the more flamboyant and sumptuous wines of the vintage, this inky/purple-colored St.-Julien reveals thrilling levels of opulence, richness and aromatic pleasures. A soaring bouquet of creme de cassis, charcoal, graphite and spring flowers is followed by a super-concentrated wine with silky tannins, stunning amounts of glycerin, a voluptuous, multilayered mouthfeel and nearly 14% natural alcohol. Displaying fabulous definition for such a big, plump, massive, concentrated effort, I suspect the tannin levels are high even though they are largely concealed by lavish amounts of fruit, glycerin and extract. Anticipated maturity: 2018-2040."

    98 points - James Suckling, Nov 2011

"The competition between the 2009, 2005 and 2000 La Conseillante will be interesting to follow over the next twenty years. There was more of a selection process at this estate in 2009 than there was in 2000, resulting in a beautiful Pomerol offering notes of mulberries, sweet cherries, spring flowers, raspberries and truffles. The color is a healthy deep plum/ruby/purple and the wine is medium to full-bodied with silky tannins, a broad, layered mouthfeel and wonderful freshness as well as length. This gorgeous, complex, Burgundian-styled Pomerol will be drinkable in 4-6 years and should keep for 30-40. (The 1970 is still alive and that was not nearly as well made as the 2009.)"

    6 x 750 ml

"Harvested between September 17 and October 5, this wine seems always open for business, so to speak, much like the great 1982s. The summer of 2009 was very hot and dry, which got the harvest off to a reasonably early start. The blend was 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot. Jean Bernard Delmas’ goal was to find perfect equilibrium between freshness and concentration, given its incredible opulence and the voluptuous character this vintage offered. That’s what this wine has in abundance. With an astounding dense purple color, the wine has velvety, sweet tannins, and an extremely open-knit and opulent blueberry, blackberry and creme de cassis nose. There is scorched earth, vanilla and, again, telltale licorice and spice. It is unctuously textured – thicker and juicier than the 2010 and more forward. This wine should come into its own in another five years. And again, it has at least 50+ years of aging potential."

Full-bodied, with super silky tannins and savory fruit and amazing flavors of fine leather, blueberries, and sandalwood. The quality of the tannins are amazing, with creamy texture and bright acidity on the end. Such classic and classicism. Delicacy. Lasts for minutes on the palate. This is 13.2% alcohol. Best Margaux in bottle yet…will 2010 be as great? Try it in 2020."

    100 points - James Suckling, March 2012

"A brilliant offering from the Mentzelopoulos family, once again their gifted manager, Paul Pontallier, has produced an uncommonly concentrated, powerful 2009 Chateau Margaux made from 87% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest primarily Merlot with small amounts of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. As with most Medocs, the alcohol here is actually lower (a modest 13.3%) than most of its siblings-. Abundant blueberry, cassis and acacia flower as well as hints of charcoal and forest floor aromas that are almost Burgundian in their complexity are followed by a wine displaying sweet, well-integrated tannins as well as a certain ethereal lightness despite the wine's overall size. Rich, round, generous and unusually approachable for such a young Margaux, this 2009 should drink well for 30-35+ years."

"As many readers may know, 2015 was the first year since 1988 that Cheval Blanc did not produce its second wine, Petit Cheval. This said, parts of two of the Cheval Blanc blocks were not used at all—Plot 17A and the north part of Plot 10—which had problems with water availability during the dry spell, and the fruit was sold for bulk. Therefore, this vintage of the Grand Vin equates to roughly 90% of the total production, making it one of the most complete expressions of Cheval Blanc ever produced. Composed of 53% Merlot and 47% Cabernet Franc, the deep garnet-purple colored 2015 Cheval Blanc slowly opens up to reveal plum preserves, black forest cake, blackberry pie and pronounced licorice notes with suggestions of cloves, cinnamon stick, star anise, dried Provence herbs and lavender plus wafts of iron ore and dusty soil. Medium to full-bodied, rich and densely packed with incredible layers of black, red and blue fruits, it completely fills the palate with energy and expression, framed by very ripe, wonderfully velvety tannins and a racy line of acid, finishing with incredible length and poise. At once achingly graceful and captivatingly cerebral, this is a legendary vintage for this great estate."

    3 bottles x Quest 2013

"The 2012 Thalarn is a great cool-climate Syrah, reminiscent of a Northern Rhone, or rather a Syrah from Valais, with its wild, slightly rustic character. Right now it is covered by the baby fat and the aromas from the best French oak money can buy, as it’s extremely young, and needs some years to grow up. While delicious right now, it will only get better if you wait. It has a fine palate, with a silky texture and saturated, round tannins. The 2008, the first vintage from a cool year which only reached 11.3% alcohol, is sublime now, if that gives you a hint about drinking windows. Drink 2015-2022."

95 points - Luis Gutierrez, Wine Advocate, Feb 2014

"Cooler than the previous to vintages I tasted last year the 2013 Quest is a Bordeaux blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Merlot from vineyards planted in 2003 fermented exclusively in the old stone pools from the 12th century. It matured in brand new French oak barrels for 18 months. The dominant aromas are herbal, very spicy, with the oak in the background and a mixture of different berries and herbs. The palate shows the elegant tannins of the Bordeaux varieties, a clear Atlantic accent (it had some Mediterranean touches in other vintages) with good acidity and a remarkable length. There is austerity and balance here indicating that this is not a showy wine by any means. It has subtle elegance and it should age in bottle for a long time. I like this very much. It would be interested to follow its evolution."

"Beautiful deep ruby. Very pure nose of ripe wild berry fruits. The palate shows more of the same authentic aromatics with abundant freshness. A very aromatic, delightful, pared-down style that is also well-structured."
