Bright, white and out of sight; the triumvirate of Riesling, Chardonnay and Gewurztraminer. Long names and hard to pronounce, so we call this wine 'White'. Not just another single varietal wine -- why choose one grape when you can have three? Think lime citrus and apple freshness with a dash of lychee fruit, in that order. As someone said at a recent event, tastes like a sun-vacation. > Learn More

Canada (Canada), Niagara (Canada), Ontario (Canada)

    6 x 750 ml

"And now for something completely different—a clone of Chardonnay known for its heady, perfume-like aromas. This opens with room-filling aromas of orange blossom, fresh-grape nuances and a distinctive musk-like perfume. A surge of viscous, slightly off-dry ambrosia coats the palate with white nectarine and tropical fruit interwoven with Meyer lemon and notions of peach skin. It’s mid-full weight with generous mouth feel and a lingering balanced aftertaste with just enough acidity to keep it crisp and refreshing. Another triumph for Cave Spring Cellars and winemaker extraordinaire, Angelo Pavan. Sip on its own or pair with grilled or pan-seared seafood."

"The rich fig and red apple friuts of Cumières meunier create a compelling contrast with crisp malic acidity and tight grapefruit and lemon zest notes. Three years on lees makes for a generous maturity for an entry cuvée, reinforcing honey and fruit cake spice and a creamy texture."

93 points - Tyson Stelzer, The Champagne Guide 2016-2017

"Geoffroy's NV Brut Premier Cru Expression is totally alive in the glass. Vibrant and delineated, the Expression bursts from glass with dried pears, flowers, almonds and Chamomile. A blend of 47% Pinot Meunier, 40% Pinot Noir and 13% Chardonnay, the Expression is all about texture and volume from the red grapes, which give tons of richness without detracting from the wine's essential energy, tension and pure drive. Cave Spring`s Blanc de Blancs is made entirely from Chardonnay grapes, which are grown in the limestone-clay soils of their vineyards along the benchlands of the Niagara Escarpment. Vinified in the Traditional Method, it was fermented and aged sur lie in bottle for a minimum of 30 months prior to disgorging. The result is a dry, Brut-style sparkling wine exhibiting delicate effervescence mineral nuances that are true to its cool-climate origins. WINE ACCESS: This wine is the flagship for Cave Spring's increasingly important sparkling wine focus, which now involves four labels. It won a Lieutenant-Governor's Award in 2012. This 100% chardonnay was aged for three years, building subtle almond complexity into the dried apple, lemon and shortbread aromas. Clarksburg Chardonnay’s signature apple and pear notes flourish in the incredible aromas and first sips of this wine. The rich, round entry is full of fruit, including touches of tropical pineapple and guava. The elegant and creamy mouthfeel wraps around the fruit and leads to spicy notes of nutmeg and toasty vanilla, left behind by over 8 months of aging in American oak.   The finish lingers like the last bite of that buttery crème brule.

"The young vines fared well but the grapes were still sold off as per normal practice here. The older vines were 70% down in volume. Lovely light lemon, with a fine stylish nose. This is precise, chiselled even, with a lovely nuanced, graceful mid palate and a fine finish integrating fruit and acidity. Very good."

"This lieu-dit tends to produce rich, gastronomic Meursaults, and it has certainly done so in 2016. A classic bouquet of poached pear, peach and oatmeal precedes a full-bodied, ample palate. It is multidimensional and detailed, and underpinned by juicy acids which balance the site’s inherent voluminousness. This will deliver a lot of pleasure at the table."

"No frost here. Pale primrose, a touch of the mirabelle plums, more fruit than floral. Then the quality of the appellation kicks in on the palate, lovely interwoven acidity with the texture, very long finish."

"Pale primrose with a really elegant nose, with a very pretty touch of reduction. Really marries in extremely well. Lemon and lime notes, a little too yellow to be greengage, a lovely thread of concentration. Very good."

Originally cultivated in what is today the Burgundy region of France, the Chardonnay is a pale green grape used in the creation of white wines. While much of the grape production remains focused on France, this grape thrives in many places around the world. In fact, it would be difficult to find an area of the planet where wine is produced without the presence of this grape. The popularity of this grape exceeds that of many other varieties. Much of this is due to the qualities that it brings to the making of wine. Under optimum conditions, the result is a wine with a relatively high alcohol content, a nice mix of sweetness with tartness, and a clear color that pleases the eye. The fact that the wine also has a bouquet many people find pleasant also ensures it’s a favorite. The wine made with Chardonnay is ideal for use at the table, in cooking, and as something pleasant to offer company. With the increase in popularity of this grape, it’s safe to say it will be remain a favorite for generations to come.
