Bright, white and out of sight; the triumvirate of Riesling, Chardonnay and Gewurztraminer. Long names and hard to pronounce, so we call this wine 'White'. Not just another single varietal wine -- why choose one grape when you can have three? Think lime citrus and apple freshness with a dash of lychee fruit, in that order. As someone said at a recent event, tastes like a sun-vacation. > Learn More

Robyn's Block is the oldest (30+) of the estate's Chardonnay plantings in the Twenty Mile sub-appellation. With each passing vintage, this certified organic-biodynamic wine just keeps getting better. The nose is focused and finessed with fresh citrus, touches of green apple and quince, wet stone and a floral note that all rises above the subtle oak spices. The crisp and zesty lime-citrus fruit and minerals glide on a razor sharp beam of mouth-watering acidity and light up the palate. This is pure elegance in the mouth, a complex array generous (but never weighty) fruit flavours that are balanced out by a wisp of spice that build in intensity through a long, long finish. This is irresistible now but will continue to give pleasure for five or more years. A brilliant Chardonnay made without a heavy hand in the cellar.

"This is the 'beefiest' and richest of the Tawse chardonnays, from 30+ year vines now farmed organically. It shows a billowing nose roasted nuts, ripe apple, meringue/custardy sweetness and buttered toast. It is medium-full bodied, fairly rounded yet founded on firm acidity and minerality, that really shows on the finish. A touch sour-edged - excellent length. A real mouthful."

This is ripe and buttery expression of Chardonnay with lots of spicy wood and even notes of chalky minerality coming through. The 2013 Tawse Chardonnay is a blend from carefully sourced hand-harvested fruit from select vineyards of the Niagara Peninsula. As such, this balanced wine is a wonderful expression of both terroir and vintage as well as a great value! Perfectly balanced, it is a very versatile and food-friendly wine. Aromas of tropical fruit, cantaloupe, citrus and a hint of oak spice are expressive on the nose and continue through to the palate.

"Still quite tightly wound, Tawse's 2013 Estate Chardonnay is on the firmer side, still quite tacky and almost astringent on the palate with sulphur still noted - this, I suppose, was built for the long term. The estate blend mixes the opulence of the Robyn's and David's Block vineyards with the piercing minerality of the Quarry Road without reaching the extremes of any, as one would expect an "estate" chardonnay to be-representative of the house philosophy. I'd like to see this in another year or so, but it's very tasty now to be sure." - John Szabo MS, June 2017

"The rich fig and red apple friuts of Cumières meunier create a compelling contrast with crisp malic acidity and tight grapefruit and lemon zest notes. Three years on lees makes for a generous maturity for an entry cuvée, reinforcing honey and fruit cake spice and a creamy texture."

93 points - Tyson Stelzer, The Champagne Guide 2016-2017

"Geoffroy's NV Brut Premier Cru Expression is totally alive in the glass. Vibrant and delineated, the Expression bursts from glass with dried pears, flowers, almonds and Chamomile. A blend of 47% Pinot Meunier, 40% Pinot Noir and 13% Chardonnay, the Expression is all about texture and volume from the red grapes, which give tons of richness without detracting from the wine's essential energy, tension and pure drive. Cave Spring`s Blanc de Blancs is made entirely from Chardonnay grapes, which are grown in the limestone-clay soils of their vineyards along the benchlands of the Niagara Escarpment. Vinified in the Traditional Method, it was fermented and aged sur lie in bottle for a minimum of 30 months prior to disgorging. The result is a dry, Brut-style sparkling wine exhibiting delicate effervescence mineral nuances that are true to its cool-climate origins. WINE ACCESS: This wine is the flagship for Cave Spring's increasingly important sparkling wine focus, which now involves four labels. It won a Lieutenant-Governor's Award in 2012. This 100% chardonnay was aged for three years, building subtle almond complexity into the dried apple, lemon and shortbread aromas. It is light-bodied, lively, gentle, delicate and a touch sweet, yet built on a beam of mineral acidity. There's excellent length on the finish. This is a terrific blanc de blanc. 91 points. From a new family (relatively speaking) to Chablis, the estate belongs to Marie-Noëlle & Laurent Ternynck. The old vines Chablis saw 12 months in foudres, on the lees, with fruit gathered from vineyards in Fleys. The cool spot comes with a higher altitude, on a windswept plateau and so harvest is generally five to six days later. And so their Chablis is cool, direct, taut and sapid stuff, as Chablis will go, from such a climat and handled so. Acidity runs rampant and travels quickly up and down and into parts of the mouth that stand up to take notice. Sharp and focused Chablis.

"This is a very tasty, rich, golden hued, well aged chardonnay-based sparkler with an involved nose of cashew, baked apple, nougat and honey. It is almost creamy in texture with fine mousse and very good acidity providing counterpoint. There is pleasant nutty bitterness on the finish; length is excellent."

"The young vines fared well but the grapes were still sold off as per normal practice here. The older vines were 70% down in volume. Lovely light lemon, with a fine stylish nose. This is precise, chiselled even, with a lovely nuanced, graceful mid palate and a fine finish integrating fruit and acidity. Very good."

"This lieu-dit tends to produce rich, gastronomic Meursaults, and it has certainly done so in 2016. A classic bouquet of poached pear, peach and oatmeal precedes a full-bodied, ample palate. It is multidimensional and detailed, and underpinned by juicy acids which balance the site’s inherent voluminousness. This will deliver a lot of pleasure at the table."

"No frost here. Pale primrose, a touch of the mirabelle plums, more fruit than floral. Then the quality of the appellation kicks in on the palate, lovely interwoven acidity with the texture, very long finish."

"Pale primrose with a really elegant nose, with a very pretty touch of reduction. Really marries in extremely well. Lemon and lime notes, a little too yellow to be greengage, a lovely thread of concentration. Very good."

Originally cultivated in what is today the Burgundy region of France, the Chardonnay is a pale green grape used in the creation of white wines. While much of the grape production remains focused on France, this grape thrives in many places around the world. In fact, it would be difficult to find an area of the planet where wine is produced without the presence of this grape. The popularity of this grape exceeds that of many other varieties. Much of this is due to the qualities that it brings to the making of wine. Under optimum conditions, the result is a wine with a relatively high alcohol content, a nice mix of sweetness with tartness, and a clear color that pleases the eye. The fact that the wine also has a bouquet many people find pleasant also ensures it’s a favorite. The wine made with Chardonnay is ideal for use at the table, in cooking, and as something pleasant to offer company. With the increase in popularity of this grape, it’s safe to say it will be remain a favorite for generations to come.
